Of all the marketing strategies available to a copywriter, nothing in my experience has a more profound effect on accelerating income than a swipe file.

I’m looking forward to “swiping” your swipe file … kind of like finding a treasure chest full of other treasure maps. Many thanks.

I listened to your podcast interview with Michael Sinoff today.
Really good stuff. I have been studying copywriting for about a year.
I really like the audio interviews because I can listen to them while I drive

Hey John,

I’m really glad you are enjoying the swipe file ads. A lot of times I dig them out of old books and newspapers. At other times people find and generously donate them. That Merrill Lynch ad (one of my favorites, too!) is from a great collection of old ads called, “The 100 Greatest Advertisements”.

Which is an excellent book of old ads — with explanation of how well they did — from way back in the day Eugene Schwartz mentioned at the end of “Breakthrough Advertising.”
