Below is the MP3 audio recording and written transcript of a teleseminar explaining exactly how to write a press release that makes money.
This is a “for real” lesson, too — where I analyze (line by line) a real press release I used to get lots of free publicity.
Some of these secrets in this tele-seminar include:
- The #1 mistake people make when they write press releases.
- How to format your releases so they aren’t immediately tossed out by reporters.
- How to use “sound bites” to make your press releases almost impossible for reporters to forget or ignore.
- How to make yourself an instant “expert”.
- Why you should almost NEVER email your press releases.
- How to write your press release so reporters are almost giddy with excitement to interview you.
- Why you do NOT want your press releases used word-for-word (no matter what the so-called “press release gurus” say).
You can get your hands on this eye-opening information by MP3 download, written transcript, or streaming audio (no downloading necessary) below.

Ben,
Your information is so helpful and up to date. I am passing this on to all of my article and ebook writing students.
Thanks Connie,
I’m very glad you are getting so much value from the website.
Ben
Hi Ben,
Once again, you are providing valuable content that helps fellow copywriters. Funny coincidence — my broker just went independent, and issued a (horrible) press release yesterday. I’m going to use this information to bone up on my press release skills, then offer him a critique. Maybe I’ll get a new customer!
Hey Kevin, sounds like a great plan, let me know how that goes…
Ben
As usual Ben, some great information. Will definitely be sharing this. Thanks.
Susan
Thank you Susan, appreciate the feedback and hope you and those you share it with get a ton of value from it.
Ben
Great job, I think you made it simple for people and your strategies do work.
I see people trying to get creative with their press releases and put their contact info at the bottom.
Thanks for sharing good information!

Glad you liked it, Dr. Wright, I hope it helps those struggling with writing press releases, as it’s sort of a mystery to a lot of people these days.

Ben, your strategy sounds similar to Paul Hartunians PR strategy.
He’s famous for selling pieces of the Brooklyn Bridge, which generated him millions of dollars of FREE publicity.
He repeated this several times with other subjects.
Check out his audio here:

Ben, if Michael Senoff has a video interview with Paul Hartunian you may want to post that too.
You may want to check out this Amazon best seller…which I feel you will enjoy.
The New Rules of Marketing and PR: How to Use News Releases, Blogs, Podcasting, Viral Marketing and Online Media to Reach Buyers Directly by David Meerman Scott
Mark, not only does it sound like Paul’s methods… they ARE Paul’s methods. (Which I repeat throughout the seminar). I love Paul’s stuff and read his print newsletter religiously each month. And have used his teachings to get lots of publicity in the past and am going to be using it again shortly for another project.
It’s just solid gold, especially for people who have new products and want “proof” elements (media interviews are awesome, awesome proof).
Ben
Ben,
That interview was great. I think I’m actually going to listen to it again
One question though…
I’m writing a press release write now about a “challenge” I’m making to business owners - it’s about my copywriting services.
I know I’m not really supposed to say “I” in it or talk about myself much, but that’s kind of the entire idea of the press release.
I can’t figure out a way to get past that.
So my question is…if the press release itself is about a new challenge I’m giving to business owners and it’s about my copywriting services, is there a way I can do it without sounding like I’m promoting myself too much?
Thanks,
Jeremy

Hey Jeremy, if you say anything that even could be interpreted as self promotion (in ANY way) you’re probably dead in the water.
This is one huge reason why so many people fail miserably when trying to get publicity.
This is also why Paul’s course is valuable — he figured out all kinds of ways to “sell” yourself without actually sounding like you’re selling anything.

Ben, what kind of Flash player for audio on you site? Great interview btw. I love the curiosity tips he gives us in the opening paragraphs. I’ll use it!
Hey Lawton, I use a plugin called “mediacaster” (just google it and you should find it pretty easy) and it absolutely kicks arse in its simplicity and usability.
