One of my favorite guilty pleasures is the movie:<\/p>\n
\u201cBlue Velvet\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s by director David Lynch.<\/p>\n (An odd fellow to say the least.)<\/p>\n And, I\u2019ve learned a lot about writing subject lines, headlines, and copy by \u201cosmosis\u201d from him (i.e. watching his films). Anyway, there\u2019s a scene in \u201cBlue Velvet\u201d where the main villain (a psychopath played by the late, and esteemed Dennis Hopper) kidnaps this college guy who\u2019s trying to get with the girl he wants, and takes him to a bar.<\/p>\n He asks, \u201cwhat kind of beer do you drink?\u201d<\/p>\n The college kid says, \u201cHeineken.\u201d<\/p>\n Dennis Hopper violently collars the guy and says:<\/p>\n \u201cHeineken!!? Pabst Blue Ribbon!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n Anyway, Dennis\u2019s character reminds me of my droogie Eric McMillan — a self-described redneck, duck hunting aficionado, and one of the single best traffic guys on the planet (who I\u2019m wanting to hire to do my Pay-Per-View ads soon).<\/p>\n If Eric had an apprentice, he\u2019d ask the poor schlub the same question.<\/p>\n (\u201cwhat beer do you drink?\u201d)<\/p>\n And, if his apprentice answered with some sissy beer like Heineken, Eric would collar the guy and tell him no way in hellz, you\u2019re gonna have Pabst Blue Ribbon, and you\u2019re gonna *like* it.<\/p>\n Okay, so what\u2019s the point of all this drivel?<\/p>\n This:<\/p>\n Eric is not only one of my business partners, but he\u2019s also an \u201cEmail Players\u201d subscriber. And recently, he was forced to grit his teeth, knock back a Pabst Blue Ribbon, and begrudgingly admit this about the \u201cEmail Players\u201d newsletter:<\/p>\n \u201cShit I can\u2019t remember how long I\u2019ve been a subscriber. All I know is that I\u2019ve made more money every single month because of being a subscriber it ain\u2019t even close.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n If\u2019n you\u2019re interested in learning about this rag, do this:<\/p>\n 1.
