Let me tell you a story about my \u201csilent\u201d business partner:<\/p>\n

(My long-suffering dog.)<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve had several leaks in the roof over my master bedroom for almost a year now (walls torn out, buckets of water filling up every time it rains, the works). And, the HOA here finally found a competent roofer that understands the coastal weather patterns.<\/p>\n
Anyway, that roofer came over the other day.<\/p>\n
And, when he rang the door bell Zoe was at the door instantly.<\/p>\n
As I let the roofer in I said:<\/p>\n
\u201cZoe! Get back! I\u00a0just cleaned up the blood from the last<\/em> roofer!\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
For a second the guy looked genuinely worried.<\/p>\n
And, I got a bit of a kick out of that.<\/p>\n
Why?<\/p>\n
As a professional communicator (and that is what you are if you write copy, emails, speak, make videos, do podcasts, etc) I like to \u201cjolt\u201d people and constantly practice jolting people.<\/p>\n
I do it when I speak at events.<\/p>\n
I do it when people come over.<\/p>\n
And, yes, I do it in my emails.<\/p>\n
And you know what?<\/p>\n
It\u2019s one of those things that can make you a lot more sales \u2014 regardless of what kind of medium you use to sell with.<\/p>\n
