Following is something I should have written about a long time ago.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s the scoop:<\/p>\n
A few months ago, an \u201cEmail Players\u201d subscriber in the \u201cmake muney\u201d niche (yay!) sent me a bunch of questions about affiliate marketing. And, as I read his questions, it was painfully obvious he was not at all grounded in the basics of direct response marketing.<\/p>\n
I could tell just by the questions.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s like my favorite kung fu analogy:<\/p>\n
He was trying to learn how to (metaphorically) snuff out a candle with the wind created by the speed of his punch instead of first learning *how* to punch in the first place.<\/p>\n
Very common.<\/p>\n
Especially for people in the \u201cmake muney!\u201d niche.<\/p>\n
If that\u2019s you, some advice:<\/p>\n
1. Get out of the friggin make muney niche if you haven\u2019t actually made muney<\/p>\n
2. Ground yourself in the fundamentals of direct response<\/p>\n
Very simple.<\/p>\n
But, not very secksy at all.<\/p>\n
And, not something people want to hear.<\/p>\n
Too bad.<\/p>\n
If you don\u2019t want to be a mediocre (at best) copywriter, marketer, salesman, whatever it is you do\u2026 ground thyself in the fundamentals of your craft. Don\u2019t try to be OG or cool or bad ass or a rockstar or whatever the flakebook lingo is these days.<\/p>\n
Master those boring fundamentals.<\/p>\n
Know them better than anyone else.<\/p>\n
And, you will conquer in whatever niche you\u2019re in.<\/p>\n
Anyway, the April \u201cEmail Players\u201d issue reprints the entire email exchange I had with my customer to get him on the right track. Even if you are not \u201cnew\u201d take ye heed of the lessons.<\/p>\n
Or suffer the fate of mediocracy you will, Old Skywalker.<\/p>\n
