One of my favorite Seinfeld episodes is when George Costanza is desperate to get Jerry\u2019s girlfriend to like him.<\/p>\n
The fact she doesn\u2019t like him really bothers him.<\/p>\n
He becomes obsessed with her.<\/p>\n
Even to the point where he tells Jerry:<\/p>\n
\u201cThis woman hates me so much. I\u2019m starting to like her\u2026She just dislikes me so much\u2026 It\u2019s irresistible\u2026 A woman that hates me this much comes along once in a lifetime.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
People laugh at that scene.<\/p>\n
But, the reason it\u2019s funny is because there\u2019s truth to it.<\/p>\n
(Comedy not based on truth is simply not funny.)<\/p>\n
Indifference makes people more persuasive \u2014 whether it\u2019s in romantic relationships, business relationships, customer relationships, or any other kind or relationship. That\u2019s probably why one of Robert Green\u2019s 48 Laws Of Power is to have contempt for things you can\u2019t have, so you make yourself immune to such forces.<\/p>\n
Which brings me to why I bring this up:<\/p>\n
There is a way to use this quirk of human nature in your emails.<\/p>\n
