Few months ago I heard one of the world\u2019s top firearm instructors say something that got me to thinking about bid\u2019niz.<\/p>\n
Specifically, he said:<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re gonna do what you want, I\u2019m gonna do what I want, bad guys are gonna do what they want, the cops are gonna do what they want, the judge is gonna do what he\/she wants, and the jury is gonna do what they want.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
And so it is in bid\u2019niz too.<\/p>\n
There are so many other peoples\u2019 decisions that can affect the sale.<\/p>\n
Decisions you have zero control over.<\/p>\n
And this is why (GASP! Oh noes! Now I\u2019m in trouble\u2026) I don\u2019t spend all my time obsessing over sales, clicks, opens, conversions, etc goals with giant white board flow charts and drama queening on Facebook live videos about them. The way I see it, my list is gonna do what they want. My competitors are gonna do what they want. Trolls are gonna do what they want. My auto-responder company is gonna do what they want. My bank is gonna do what they want. Google is gonna do what they want. Facebook is gonna do what they want. The government compliance people are gonna do what they want, yada, yada, yada.<\/p>\n
I cannot control if someone buys or clicks or takes any action.<\/p>\n
So what do I focus on then?<\/p>\n
What I *can* control, Silly.<\/p>\n
Specifically:<\/p>\n
Making myself better at what I do each day.<\/p>\n
Consistently mailing my list.<\/p>\n
Edu-ma-cating myself on things that will make me a better and more persuasive copywriter.<\/p>\n
Split testing certain pages.<\/p>\n
And the list plays on…<\/p>\n
I’m a unrepentant control freak about those things.<\/p>\n
You should be, too.<\/p>\n
That is, if you want to conquer your little corner of the Internet.<\/p>\n
Anyway, I bring this up because I talk about this and a lot of other profitable business-related num-nums I got schooled on in the June \u201cEmail Players\u201d issue by this instructor \u2014 including some of the finer points of infotainment (I took more notes on his *teaching* skills than the content of the course\u2026 shh, don\u2019t tell anyone\u2026)<\/p>\n
