If you\u2019re so good at this, why don\u2019t you put your money where your mouth is? I have an offer that converts at (whatever the %\u2019s were). What if you write me an email campaign and I\u2019ll pay you a commission on the extra sales over what I usually get! This is a great deal, you\u2019d be a fool not to take me up on!\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My response?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cAway with ye, marketing prole boy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And off he scuttled\u2026 to some forum.<\/p>\n<p>And, in this forum, he whined about my rebuking him to his marketing prole friends and, like the marketing proles do, they all started saying, \u201cyeah, that Ben sure is a dummy \u2014 why wouldn\u2019t he take you up on that generous offer?\u201d Along with the usual prattling marketing proles do, with more drama than you can find on a Game of Thrones episode.<\/p>\n<p>Another true story about marketing proles:<\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time I decided to help someone get started in the copywriting bid\u2019niz.<\/p>\n<p>And, this person (a chick), started mysteriously getting various offers (all of them stewpid ideas) from various people (all guys pretending to be successful, but were just newbies) asking her to partner up\/JV to sell their products, do work for them in exchange for \u201cexposure\u201d, and other deals that made zero sense at all considering she had zero experience at all, with no portfolio or prior experience. i.e. they simply wanted to have the secks with her and, like marketing proles with zero game do, that was the only way they knew to try.<\/p>\n<p>My point?<\/p>\n<p>Call them cautionary tales.<\/p>\n<p>Marketing proles are everywhere.<\/p>\n<p>And, this is one of the games they play.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re new to this bid\u2019niz, my advice is to tell them to stick it where the sun doesn\u2019t shine.<\/p>\n<p>Create your own offers.<\/p>\n<p>Build your own list.<\/p>\n<p>And email it every day.<\/p>\n<p>As for creating offers and building a list, that\u2019s not my speciality.
