Couple weeks ago, I got wind of a thread in a copywriting Facebook group about the frequency and quality of my emails.<\/p>\n
The screen shots I saw of a few of the naysayers were perfect.<\/p>\n
Especially since it just so happened on that exact same day I got this:<\/p>\n
Who was this zinger from?<\/p>\n
Some random goo-roo fanboy?<\/p>\n
A Facebook copywriter grandstanding & virtue signaling in a group?<\/p>\n
No, it was from the great, and esteemed Ken McCarthy \u2014 the \u201cfounding father\u201d of internet marketing as we know it\u2026 who pioneered (he took all the arrows for us)\u00a0\u00a0legitimate email advertising, banner ads, pay-per-click, and, yes, video. (He is even credited in Time magazine with originating the idea of using click-through rates as the key metric of website performance. If that tells you anything\u2026)<\/p>\n
The irony truly writes itself in this case.<\/p>\n
You can listen to copywriters waxing philosophy in Facebook groups all day long.<\/p>\n
Or, you can listen to guys like Ken McCarthy and the other great men and women of copywriting who have been gracious enough to send me testimonials over the years.<\/p>\n
Many of who also subscribe to \u201cEmail Players\u201d, too.<\/p><\/div>\n
Speaking of which:<\/p>\n
The deadline to get the January issue is tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Once I send it to the printer, it\u2019ll be too late to get it.<\/p>\n
