And, thus, she uses UPS a lot.<\/p>\n
And, not long ago, I took her to the local UPS drop off.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s in a store that primarily sells to hunters, fisherman, hikers, outdoors enthusiasts, gun owners, yada yada yada. And, since I live in Bigfoot country in the Pacific Northwest, stores like that tend to sell books about Bigfoot. In this store\u2019s case, they had probably a dozen titles on the rack next to the UPS counter. And, I found myself thumbing through one of the titles, wanting to buy it, since the Hairy One makes an appearance in a novel I wrote and am editing, and it may have given me some good twists or ideas for it.<\/p>\n
Anyway, short story long:<\/p>\n
As I was ready to get it, my woman asked me something about Bigfoot.<\/p>\n
And then the UPS schlub interrupts our conversation:<\/p>\n
“There’s no Bigfoot, that\u2019s just a myth, he\u2019s not real.”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
After which I proceeded to put the book down I was going to buy and left.[[image:20190801_172619.jpg|right|small]]<\/p>\n
Why?<\/p>\n
Two reasons:<\/p>\n
1. Nobody likes a skeptic, being the insufferable bores they are, much less likes giving them money<\/p>\n
2. He engaged in \u201canti-selling\u201d<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the height of stupidity to tell people the product\/service you\u2019re selling doesn\u2019t work, you don\u2019t believe in it, etc. I\u2019m not saying the little skeptic had to lie. All he had to do was mind his own business or else say something like, \u201cyou know, can\u2019t say I\u2019m convinced, but a lot of other people are, and they say that book in your hand has a lot of new proof\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Anyway, as a matter of principle I don\u2019t buy from anti-salesmen.<\/p>\n
And, neither do most others.<\/p>\n
