{"id":13772,"date":"2019-08-26T16:30:09","date_gmt":"2019-08-26T23:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=13772"},"modified":"2019-08-26T16:30:09","modified_gmt":"2019-08-26T23:30:09","slug":"hair-raising-advice-to-freelance-copywriters-coaches-and-conultants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/hair-raising-advice-to-freelance-copywriters-coaches-and-conultants\/","title":{"rendered":"Hair-raising Advice To Freelance Copywriters, Coaches, And Conultants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things the late, great copywriter and marketing mind Gary Halbert used to do when he held his $7,000 seminars (almost $14k in today&#8217;s money) is, he\u2019d wear a hat with big, emboldened letters that said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cClients Suck\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And, inevitably, he\u2019d get clients lining up to hire him.<\/p>\n<p>Or so I\u2019ve been told, at least.<\/p>\n<p>But, I believe it.<\/p>\n<p>And, I believe it because he was, more than any other person I\u2019ve seen since, tapping into a powerful \u201claw\u201d of marketing, advertising, and selling that made it so he practically couldn\u2019t lose when it came to getting new business.<\/p>\n<p>What is this \u201claw\u201d I speak of?<\/p>\n<p>Well, a shallow mind will assume it was repulsion marketing.<\/p>\n<p>i.e. By trying to repel he attracted.<\/p>\n<p>Same with merely being controversial, fearless, non-needy, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Those are certainly an aspect of this law.<\/p>\n<p>But if you wade deeper into the pool of persuasion I\u2019m talking about, it goes beyond that. Way beyond it. So far beyond it, you\u2019ll be hard-pressed to find it written about or codified in any marketing or business book you&#8217;ve ever seen. And, just in case it isn&#8217;t obvious&#8230; it has nothing to do with saying your clients suck or showing outward contempt for them or whatever \u2014 which, unless you are Gary Halbert, I would highly advise against doing.<\/p>\n<p>This is a subject that can\u2019t be adequately covered in a mere email.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, I\u2019ve written extensively about in the September \u201cEmail Players\u201d issue.<\/p>\n<p>The issue is not about \u201cgetting clients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, applying the admittedly hair-raising info inside can potentially get your business swamped with so much new business if you are a freelancer (copywriter, coach, consultant, designer, whatever your service is), you may very well have to turn people away.<\/p>\n<p>Or, at the very least, jack up those nasty prices of yours.<\/p>\n<p>And yes, it works for selling non-services, too, of course, I&#8217;m just writing this email to give some lovin&#8217; to freelancers, for a change.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I\u2019m sending this puppy to the printer soon.<\/p>\n<p>If you want this issue, and if you have a winning long-term, investor-minded view as opposed to a losing short-term, opportunity-minded view (i.e. \u201cI\u2019ll just subscribe to get this one issue!\u201d) I predict this will be one of the most valuable things you ever read.<\/p>\n<p>Not because I wrote it.<\/p>\n<p>(I did not \u201cinvent\u201d the law of persuasion inside)<\/p>\n<p>But because I believe it just flat out works if you do it right, work hard, and have patience.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the link to subscribe before the 8\/31\/19 deadline:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.EmailPlayers.com\"><strong>www.EmailPlayers.com<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things the late, great copywriter and marketing mind Gary Halbert used to do when he held his $7,000 seminars (almost $14k in today&#8217;s money) is, he\u2019d wear a hat with big, emboldened letters that said: \u201cClients Suck\u201d And, inevitably, he\u2019d get clients lining up to hire him.
