{"id":1410,"date":"2009-01-14T17:46:16","date_gmt":"2009-01-14T17:46:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=1410"},"modified":"2009-01-14T17:46:16","modified_gmt":"2009-01-14T17:46:16","slug":"weird-twitter-secret-spikes-traffic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/weird-twitter-secret-spikes-traffic\/","title":{"rendered":"Weird Twitter Secret Spikes Traffic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you use <strong>&#8220;Twitter&#8221;<\/strong> I think you&#8217;re gonna love this.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Because there&#8217;s something I&#8217;ve been doing (you can just as easily do) with Twitter, that makes links in my tweets FAR more likely to be clicked on.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, my traffic spikes every single time I do this &#8220;thing.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>What is this &#8220;thing&#8221; I&#8217;m doing?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing my tweets as <em>bullet points<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In other words&#8230; if I want people to click a link, I don&#8217;t say, &#8220;cool new resource&#8221; or &#8220;new blog post&#8221; anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, I say something like:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>A secret (and kinda bizarre) way of finding dozens of new leads, clients and customers at your local coffee shop<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>or&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>@rayedwards uses an ordinary telephone to build his Internet marketing bizness?<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>or&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>How NOT to get laughed at by people you want to joint venture with<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This actually works so well, I turned off the service that automatically tweeted my latest blog posts. <\/p>\n<p>Now I write cool <em>bullet points<\/em> instead.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets like you&#8217;d see in a sales letter &#8212; full of tension, contrast, drama and curiosity.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s today&#8217;s email tip:<\/p>\n<p>When using Twitter to get people to click your links, make &#8217;em <em>bullets<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The kind that make people think: <\/p>\n<p><center><strong><em>&#8220;How the heck is THAT possible?&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Doing this will pack your tweets with a LOT more &#8220;punch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.S.<\/strong> I firmly believe bullets are <em>everything<\/em> in copywriting &#8212; the &#8220;#1 skill&#8221; to learn.  <\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s so important, I am adding a special bonus to the CD that comes with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.copywritinggrabbag.com\">The Copywriting Grab Bag<\/a><\/strong> book:<\/p>\n<p>A 6 page report packed with nothing but bullet point templates.<\/p>\n<p>This is the <strong>EXACT<\/strong> same list of bullets I use in my own ads.  <\/p>\n<p>And believe it or not, some of my clients have told me the ONLY reason they hired me was because they couldn&#8217;t resist the bullets in my ads, and had to buy the product I was selling.
