Last month I saw a Tweet that showed a brief clip of Francis Ford Coppola\u2019s \u201cBram Stoker\u2019s Dracula\u201d.<\/p>\n
Easily one of my favorite horror movies.<\/p>\n
And when the most recent version of the story (Robert Eggers\u2019 so-called \u201cNosferatu\u201d) came out, I watched it with Stefania, hoping it\u2019d be just as good, but both sat there the whole time thinking:<\/p>\n
\u201choly crap this sucks\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n We put on Bram Stoker\u2019s Dracula afterwars to wash Eggers\u2019 boring movie out of our minds.<\/p>\n \u201cFast forward\u201d a few months later to the Tweet above.<\/p>\n A lot of the comments were asking \u201cGrok what is this movie?\u201d when they saw the Bram Stoker\u2019s Dracula clip, which many thought was incredible. It was legitimately “new” to them, even though it came out in 1992. And it dawned on me why so many of these guys slobbered all over Eggers\u2019 boring Nosferatu movie:<\/p>\n They never even saw Coppola\u2019s movie, or knew it existed.<\/p>\n When they saw the clips, some of them behaved like Coppola’s “old” movie invented fire.<\/p>\n This same phenomenon happens in the marketing world, too.<\/p>\n Take what this Email Players subscriber recently sent me:<\/p>\n \u201cyou\u2019ve put me onto basically everybody I learn from today.
