{"id":1932,"date":"2009-04-27T16:53:12","date_gmt":"2009-04-27T16:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=1932"},"modified":"2009-04-27T16:53:12","modified_gmt":"2009-04-27T16:53:12","slug":"stoopid-sales-tricks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/stoopid-sales-tricks\/","title":{"rendered":"Stoopid Sales Tricks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Got LOTS of subscriber questions over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Mostly about the new website change.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, <em>&#8220;Ben, why are you not focusing on copywriting anymore?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Answer:<\/p>\n<p>I AM still focusing on copywriting in a way.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the thing:<\/p>\n<p>What a lot of copywriters desperately need to &#8220;get&#8221; is copywriting is NOT writing. Copywriting is in a totally different league than writing. Heck, copywriting is not even in the same <em>sport<\/em> as writing.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, writing ability helps.  <\/p>\n<p>But FAR more important is your ability to SELL.<\/p>\n<p>To sell in an email, ad or sales letter.<\/p>\n<p>Or to close big ticket deals on the phone.<\/p>\n<p>Or to persuade someone on joint venturing with you.<\/p>\n<p>Or to know how to sell on social media sites without coming off as an <em>obnoxious<\/em> cyber carnival barker.<\/p>\n<p>And so on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s ALL selling.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The same strategies I use to write ads are the exact same age-old strategies revealed in my upcoming <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.CrackerjackSelling.com\" rel=\"noopener\">Crackerjack Selling Secrets<\/a><\/strong> book.<\/p>\n<p>The same strategies (in many cases) in <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.CopywritingGrabBag.com\" rel=\"noopener\">The Copywriting Grab Bag<\/a><\/strong> can be used in tele-seminars, selling in videos, selling coaching services, etc.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s ALL selling at the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p>But here&#8217;s the thing:<\/p>\n<p>Most people think sales is a dirty word. <\/p>\n<p>Almost like the &#8220;f-word&#8221; of business.<\/p>\n<p>And who can blame them?<\/p>\n<p>Most people DO come off as hypey carnival barkers pushing some substandard product nobody wants, needs or has any desire to possess.<\/p>\n<p><strong>And my new &#8220;mission&#8221; is to make sales FUN for people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To make it 100% ethical and comfortable.<\/p>\n<p>And to help you make mucho buckeroos without using any funky manipulation, stoopid sales tricks or high pressure closes (NONE of which work very well anyway).<\/p>\n<p>Think of it like the old TV show &#8220;The Munsters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Remember that show?<\/p>\n<p>The whole family were basically <em>monsters<\/em> &#8212; like Frankenstein, the were-wolf, the ghoul, dracula, etc.<\/p>\n<p>And whenever the mailman or the water meter guy or whoever popped in they&#8217;d get freaked out by the look of them.<\/p>\n<p>Because they <strong>LOOKED<\/strong> like monsters.<\/p>\n<p>Except, of course, for the blonde hottie cousin living with them &#8212; Marilyn. Everyone liked and trusted her. Because she looked like a nice, normal person &#8212; not a monster.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s how selling is, too.<\/p>\n<p>You can use the lame manipulation, gimmicky, hype-filled tactics everyone on the Internet uses and come off as a monster.<\/p>\n<p>Or you can be like the blonde chick in the Munsters:  Inviting, attractive and <strong>EASY<\/strong> to talk and do business with.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, that&#8217;s the idea behind the new site.  <\/p>\n<p>Stick around and I think you&#8217;ll start selling more with less effort.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Got LOTS of subscriber questions over the weekend.
