{"id":1940,"date":"2009-04-29T16:41:58","date_gmt":"2009-04-29T16:41:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=1940"},"modified":"2009-04-29T16:41:58","modified_gmt":"2009-04-29T16:41:58","slug":"the-other-8020-rule","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/the-other-8020-rule\/","title":{"rendered":"The &#8220;Other&#8221; 80\/20 Rule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unless you&#8217;re brand spanking new to marketing (or have been living in a cave?) you&#8217;ve likely heard of the famous &#8220;80\/20&#8221; rule.<\/p>\n<p>This is where 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts.<\/p>\n<p>So, for example:<\/p>\n<p>20% of your customers pay you 80% of your moolah.<\/p>\n<p>20% of your website gets 80% of your visitors.<\/p>\n<p>20% of your time is when you get 80% of your real work done.<\/p>\n<p>And so on, and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>But guess what?<\/p>\n<p><strong>There&#8217;s also ANOTHER 80\/20 rule nobody ever talks about.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One you probably won&#8217;t hear much about from the goo-roos or see in their big ol&#8217; fatty info-marketing products.<\/p>\n<p>But it can make a HUGE impact on your sales.<\/p>\n<p>And make selling far <em>easier<\/em> and even &#8220;routine&#8221; for you.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the story:<\/p>\n<p>Several years ago, I was listening to some motivational speaker on tape (can&#8217;t remember his name), and he started cracking jokes about people who like to complain.  <\/p>\n<p>One of his jokes went like this:<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;80% of people you know don&#8217;t care about your problems,<br \/>\nand the other 20% are GLAD you have them!&#8221;<\/div>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ha!<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s true, though, isn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<p>And believe it or not, this little joke reveals a gigantic opportunity for you and me.<\/p>\n<p>Because, to paraphrase the motivational speaking guy above:<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">&#8220;80% of the people your PROSPECTS know<br \/>\ndon&#8217;t care about their problems,<br \/>\nand the other 20% are glad they have them.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>OK, so how can this help your sales?<\/p>\n<p>Well, it means nobody really <em>cares<\/em> about your customers.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody wants to <em>hear<\/em> them out.<\/p>\n<p>And nobody is taking the time to <em>see<\/em> things from their point of view.<\/p>\n<p>All of which means&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re the one person who DOES care about your prospects and customers&#8230; who DOES hear them out&#8230; and who DOES take the time to see things from their point of view&#8230; you&#8217;ll get their attention, their respect and their business.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s so <em>easy<\/em>, too.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All you have to do is&#8230; well&#8230; care about them.<\/p>\n<p>Just like you&#8217;d care about a loved one or friend.<\/p>\n<p>To see the world through <strong>THEIR<\/strong> eyes, emotions and challenges.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of the 7 &#8220;lynchpins&#8221; of my <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.Crackerjackselling.com\">Crackerjack Selling Secrets<\/a><\/strong> system that can make selling 10 times easier for anyone.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s the <em>easiest<\/em> kind of selling there is.<\/p>\n<p>It not only gets you short term buyers&#8230; but also customers for life who will become like your very own &#8220;disciples&#8221; &#8212; spreading the good news about you, your products and your business to everyone they know.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, I KNOW this caring stuff isn&#8217;t exciting.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not nearly as sexy as the dopey &#8220;black hat&#8221; persuasion tricks some people love to brag about using &#8220;on&#8221; their customers and tricking them into buying.<\/p>\n<p>But sexy or not&#8230; it works like <em>gangbusters<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Unless you&#8217;re brand spanking new to marketing (or have been living in a cave?) you&#8217;ve likely heard of the famous &#8220;80\/20&#8221; rule.
