I have a rather bizarre<\/em> admission to share with you:<\/p>\n

Lately I’ve been opening a lot of spam emails.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Well, maybe not a “lot”, but certainly more than usual.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

Is it because I want to read emails about male “enhancement” drugs?<\/p>\n

Uhm, no, think I’m good to go there, thank you.<\/p>\n

Is it because I wanna try that Acai Berry stuff?<\/p>\n

Nope.<\/p>\n

Is it because I need a new wristwatch, handbag or other doo-dad these spammers are always pushing?<\/p>\n

No, not that either.<\/p>\n

So what’s the reason?<\/p>\n

Well, weird as it sounds, the reason I’ve been opening so many spam emails is because of the subject lines<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Lemme explain:<\/p>\n

Some of these Spams-R-Us writers are using langauge that’s extremely appealing<\/em> to me as someone who does business online. Even to the point where I’ve been playing around with them for mine, and my clients’ emails.<\/p>\n

Here are a few examples of some recent ones that “got” me:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nCool Open-Rate Stats<\/p>\n

A Clearly Good Marketing Plan<\/p>\n

Subject Lines: Tell, Don’t Sell<\/p>\n

A Permission Marketing Primer: Picking and Choosing<\/p>\n

When Your Video Isn’t Viral<\/p>\n

Dumb It Up, People<\/p>\n

Podcasting is Easier Than You Think<\/p>\n

A Gentle Step into Web 2.0<\/p>\n

The SEO Rapper\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not exactly blatant<\/em> spam headlines, are they?<\/p>\n

In fact, I doubt any of them would be flagged at all. And I actually thought, at first glance, these were from marketing lists I’m on!<\/p>\n

And guess what?<\/p>\n

If you want some cool email subject line templates (especially if you’re in a business-to-business market) these all make great “fodder.”<\/p>\n

Each one is easily tweaked and swiped. (I used one for THIS<\/strong> email.)<\/p>\n

They likely won’t set off the spam alarms with the ISPs.<\/p>\n

And, if you make your emails relevant<\/em> (that’s the key) to these subject lines, they could nab you more sales.<\/p>\n

Whoda’ thunk you can get value from spam<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n
