{"id":1946,"date":"2009-04-30T14:41:46","date_gmt":"2009-04-30T14:41:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=1946"},"modified":"2009-04-30T14:41:46","modified_gmt":"2009-04-30T14:41:46","slug":"cool-open-rate-emails","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/cool-open-rate-emails\/","title":{"rendered":"Cool Open Rate Stats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have a rather <em>bizarre<\/em> admission to share with you:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lately I&#8217;ve been opening a lot of spam emails.<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>Well, maybe not a &#8220;lot&#8221;, but certainly more than usual.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Is it because I want to read emails about male &#8220;enhancement&#8221; drugs?<\/p>\n<p>Uhm, no, think I&#8217;m good to go there, thank you.<\/p>\n<p>Is it because I wanna try that Acai Berry stuff?<\/p>\n<p>Nope.<\/p>\n<p>Is it because I need a new wristwatch, handbag or other doo-dad these spammers are always pushing?<\/p>\n<p>No, not that either.<\/p>\n<p>So what&#8217;s the reason?<\/p>\n<p>Well, weird as it sounds, the reason I&#8217;ve been opening so many spam emails is because of the <strong><em>subject lines<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Lemme explain:<\/p>\n<p>Some of these Spams-R-Us writers are using langauge that&#8217;s extremely <em>appealing<\/em> to me as someone who does business online. Even to the point where I&#8217;ve been playing around with them for mine, and my clients&#8217; emails.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few examples of some recent ones that &#8220;got&#8221; me:<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nCool Open-Rate Stats<\/p>\n<p>A Clearly Good Marketing Plan<\/p>\n<p>Subject Lines: Tell, Don&#8217;t Sell<\/p>\n<p>A Permission Marketing Primer: Picking and Choosing<\/p>\n<p>When Your Video Isn&#8217;t Viral<\/p>\n<p>Dumb It Up, People<\/p>\n<p>Podcasting is Easier Than You Think<\/p>\n<p>A Gentle Step into Web 2.0<\/p>\n<p>The SEO Rapper\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not exactly <em>blatant<\/em> spam headlines, are they?<\/p>\n<p>In fact, I doubt any of them would be flagged at all. And I actually thought, at first glance, these were from marketing lists I&#8217;m on!<\/p>\n<p>And guess what?<\/p>\n<p>If you want some cool email subject line templates (especially if you&#8217;re in a business-to-business market) these all make great &#8220;fodder.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Each one is easily tweaked and swiped.
