{"id":2539,"date":"2009-10-28T08:19:45","date_gmt":"2009-10-28T15:19:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=2539"},"modified":"2009-10-28T08:19:45","modified_gmt":"2009-10-28T15:19:45","slug":"why-hype-is-for-hosers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/why-hype-is-for-hosers\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Hype Is For Hosers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once upon a time I got me a commission sales job.<\/p>\n<p>I was selling TV ad time to small businesses. <\/p>\n<p>And on the first day I got a big &#8220;ah ha!&#8221; idea I STILL use when selling today.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what happened:<\/p>\n<p>The sales manager gathered us newbies together and basically said we were NOT to hard sell and that we did not need to hype anything up.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Instead, he wanted us to tell the company founder&#8217;s <em>story<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The founder was a Cuban immigrant who created this business after watching small businesses struggling to compete with the enormous ad budgets of their big old fatty competitors.<\/p>\n<p>Only AFTER the story were we to yap about the product.<\/p>\n<p>Did this work?<\/p>\n<p>You bet your gluteus maximus it did!<\/p>\n<p>In fact, by the time you were done telling the story, many customers almost didn&#8217;t care about price or details or anything else.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some even bought on the SPOT.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And you want to know something?<\/p>\n<p>Stories like this work even BETTER online.<\/p>\n<p>Quite frankly, it&#8217;s not unusual for people to buy from ads that do this right without even reading or hearing (if audio or video) the bullets, the guarantee, or even the price.  <\/p>\n<p>The STORIES do all the dirty work.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why they are (IMHO) the best form of &#8220;proof&#8221; there is. <\/p>\n<p>They eliminate the need for hype, exaggerations or gimmicks. (Let your hoser competitors use that stuff).  And, when done right, practically carry the entire pitch by their lonesome selves.<\/p>\n<p>Which brings me to the point:<\/p>\n<p>Recently, I sat down and created a special audio lesson on EXACTLY how to tell stories that sell.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s a bit of a &#8220;science&#8221; to sales story telling.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s not as obvious as it may seem.<\/p>\n<p>Which is why, included with this audio, are 5 real life examples of these kinds of stories, too.
