{"id":2940,"date":"2010-01-25T08:00:58","date_gmt":"2010-01-25T16:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=2940"},"modified":"2010-01-25T08:00:58","modified_gmt":"2010-01-25T16:00:58","slug":"how-watching-the-matrix-can-make-you-a-marketing-action-hero","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/how-watching-the-matrix-can-make-you-a-marketing-action-hero\/","title":{"rendered":"How Watching &#8220;The Matrix&#8221; Can Make You A Marketing Action Hero"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few weeks ago, I wrote about movies and marketing.<\/p>\n<p>Remember that?<\/p>\n<p>It was about how some of the world&#8217;s best marketing geniuses (like <strong>Eugene Schwartz<\/strong> and <strong>David Ogilvy<\/strong>) were heavily influenced by the <em>movie<\/em> industry and, in Schwartz&#8217;s case, watching all the highest grossing flicks at the box office.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, there&#8217;s another person&#8217;s name to add to that list.<\/p>\n<p>And that is David Bullock.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I don&#8217;t know David.<\/p>\n<p>Nor do I (yet) own any of his products.<\/p>\n<p>But he once did an interview with Glenn Livingston and said something that&#8217;s had a HUGE impact on my little ol&#8217; business ever since.<\/p>\n<p>What did he say?<\/p>\n<p>Simply that he watches the movie &#8220;The Matrx&#8221; once per month&#8230; and gets ideas for his testing and Internet business each time.<\/p>\n<p>For example, he talked about the character Morpheus.<\/p>\n<p>And how Morpheus was talking to Neo about when you&#8217;re in a situation where there are rules (such as in marketing, testing, software, copywriting, etc) you can <em>bend<\/em> them depending on your thinking and your <em>belief<\/em> in yourself that you CAN bend them successfully.<\/p>\n<p>That opened my mind in ways no other book or course ever had.<\/p>\n<p>And it completely changed the way I market and write ads.<\/p>\n<p>So anyway, the message is clear:<\/p>\n<p>Movies can be awesome &#8220;marketing fodder.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Watch &#8217;em, enjoy &#8217;em and, yes, profit from &#8217;em.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.S.<\/strong> Movies are also great for getting sales story ideas, too.<\/p>\n<p>Believe it or not, some of my highest pulling ads were influenced by ideas from <em>movie<\/em> characters and plots.<\/p>\n<p>And guess what?<\/p>\n<p>You can get an advanced teaching on using stories in your sales and marketing when you grab your copy of <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.crackerjackselling.com\" rel=\"noopener\">Crackerjack Selling Secrets<\/a><\/strong>.
