{"id":3031,"date":"2010-02-17T08:00:54","date_gmt":"2010-02-17T16:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=3031"},"modified":"2010-02-17T08:00:54","modified_gmt":"2010-02-17T16:00:54","slug":"removing-friends-and-zapping-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/removing-friends-and-zapping-people\/","title":{"rendered":"Removing Friends And Zapping People"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lately, I&#8217;m unfriending FaceBook &#8220;friends&#8221; left &#038; right.<\/p>\n<p>There are many reasons why, too.<\/p>\n<p>But usually they fall into one of the &#8220;people-who-irritate-the-living-crappola out of me&#8221; categories below:<\/p>\n<p><strong>FaceBook Mannequins:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some people on FB try to give the illusion of perfection to the point where it reminds me of the robots in the movie &#8220;Surrogates&#8221; &#8212; perfect, flawless&#8230; and <em>creepy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cheapskates:<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>What is it with people whining about the idea of FB charging a few bucks per month (which is probably a myth anyway), especially when it&#8217;s less than what many of them are paying each DAY for their daily Star Bucks sugar coffee?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sour Pusses:<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>Who wants to be pals with people who are wound up so <em>tight<\/em> they have no sense of humor whatsoever?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wall Spammers:<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>I wonder if these people have any idea how truly lame (and annoying) all their virtual hugs, shots, Valentine&#8217;s Day gifts, and other fake presents are?  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Inbox Spammers:<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>This is when someone CC&#8217;s you an FB message sent to 10 other people, and you keep getting everyone&#8217;s back and forth banter &#8212; whether you <em>care<\/em> about the conversation or not (with no way to opt-out, except pushing the &#8220;spam&#8221; button each time someone replies).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Decoy Taggers:<\/strong>  <\/p>\n<p>These are the people who put up pictures of buildings or monuments or whatever, then tag as many people on there as they can to, presumably, get all those peoples&#8217; attention.  I wonder which social media goo-roo is teaching this?<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, here&#8217;s the bottom line:<\/p>\n<p>FaceBook, Twitter, etc can be fun (and amusing).  <\/p>\n<p>But they&#8217;re <em>crawling<\/em> with people who seem to have PhD&#8217;s in cheapness, lame marketing and wasting peoples&#8217; time with nonsense &#8212; and so zapping them from my list is now mandatory.<\/p>\n<p>And you know what?<\/p>\n<p>If you value your <em>time<\/em>, you may want to do the same.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.CrackerjackSelling.com\" rel=\"noopener\">www.CrackerjackSelling.com<\/a><\/div>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lately, I&#8217;m unfriending FaceBook &#8220;friends&#8221; left &#038; right.
