{"id":3092,"date":"2010-03-08T08:00:06","date_gmt":"2010-03-08T16:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=3092"},"modified":"2010-03-08T08:00:06","modified_gmt":"2010-03-08T16:00:06","slug":"benjamin-franklins-forgotten-persuasion-secret","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/benjamin-franklins-forgotten-persuasion-secret\/","title":{"rendered":"Benjamin Franklin&#8217;s Forgotten Persuasion Secret"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Did you see Ryan Healy&#8217;s goo-roo &#8220;smack down&#8221; a while ago?<\/p>\n<p>It caused quite the broo-ha-ha.<\/p>\n<p>You can read it by <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ryanhealy.com\/internet-marketing-life-support\" rel=\"noopener\">clicking here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>And recently, someone asked me this about it:<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUESTION:<\/strong>  Ben, you are always talking about the &#8220;goo-roos&#8221; but you never name any names.  I am curious about why?   <\/p>\n<p><strong>BEN:<\/strong>  I think it took mucho cojones to do what Ryan did.  <\/p>\n<p>And he did what he thought was right.<\/p>\n<p>But I would probably never do anything like that, even if I was inclined to &#8220;out&#8221; someone or had the time and energy to do the homework it takes to do the deed any justice.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Two words:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benjamin Franklin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You see, Benjamin Franklin was America&#8217;s first millionaire, a world-class entrepreneur, and a master of <em>persuasion<\/em> (he was one of the most effective diplomats who ever lived).  <\/p>\n<p>He probably had plenty of &#8220;dirt&#8221; on people.<\/p>\n<p>Probably could have ruined all kinds of peoples&#8217; careers.<\/p>\n<p>And probably had the opportunity to &#8220;out&#8221; his fair share of corrupt politicians, diplomats and other &#8220;dignitaries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But he never did (from what I can tell, at least).<\/p>\n<p>In fact, according to one of the biographies I read about him several years ago, he hardly ever said anything negative about another person (no matter how despicable or depraved the person was).<\/p>\n<p>Just wasn&#8217;t his bag, I guess.<\/p>\n<p>And, as a result, he was <strong>trusted<\/strong>, <strong>believed<\/strong> and <strong>confided<\/strong> in by most everyone he ever met.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, like BF, I choose not to name names, either.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, I&#8217;m more of a &#8220;fruit inspector.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p>When I smell some rotten goo-roo fruit, I examine it and show others how to tell if it&#8217;s rotten for themselves. <\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s up to you if you want to pluck it or not.<\/p>\n<p>But naming names?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s just not my bag, either.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.S.<\/strong> To learn how Benjamin Franklin &#8220;judo flipped&#8221; vicious gossip to his advantage when persuading people to listen to him and act on his ideas (including hostile leaders of enemy countries) check out page 38 of &#8220;Crackerjack Selling Secrets&#8221; at:<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.CrackerjackSelling.com\" rel=\"noopener\">www.CrackerjackSelling.com<\/a><\/div<\/strong>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Did you see Ryan Healy&#8217;s goo-roo &#8220;smack down&#8221; a while ago?
