{"id":3271,"date":"2010-04-28T08:00:25","date_gmt":"2010-04-28T15:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=3271"},"modified":"2010-04-28T08:00:25","modified_gmt":"2010-04-28T15:00:25","slug":"what-not-to-test-in-your-sales-letters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/what-not-to-test-in-your-sales-letters\/","title":{"rendered":"What NOT To Test In Your Sales Letters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Been getting questions about <em>testing<\/em>, lately.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, they ask me which headline color works best&#8230; what font pulls the most orders&#8230; where to put the product photo graphic&#8230; and so on, and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>You know what I tell &#8217;em?<\/p>\n<p>I think they&#8217;re wasting their time.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, it can&#8217;t <em>hurt<\/em> to test those things.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s usually much more profitable to put your energy into what I call the &#8220;gross&#8221; sales letter components&#8230; instead of the &#8220;fine&#8221; components.<\/p>\n<p>What does that mean?<\/p>\n<p>Well, let&#8217;s take martial arts as an example.<\/p>\n<p>Most martial arts involve &#8220;fine&#8221; motor movements &#8212; like reverse punches, head kicks, wrist locks, arm bars, hip throws, etc. These may work in a classroom&#8230; but can get you seriously hurt (maybe even <em>killed<\/em>) in a REAL attack with some drooling rapist or cold-blooded psychopath in an empty parking garage.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Because these moves are too <em>complex<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re almost <em>impossible<\/em> to pull off when you&#8217;re shaking from a white-hot adrenaline dump and can&#8217;t even unlock your car much less execute a spinning high kick.<\/p>\n<p>Just ain&#8217;t happening.<\/p>\n<p>So you know what the smart fighters do?<\/p>\n<p>They use &#8220;gross&#8221; motor movements, instead.<\/p>\n<p>These are movements you can do without <em>thinking<\/em> &#8212; like throwing a hard elbow into someone&#8217;s soft eye or kneeing them in the ballz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You know&#8230; the &#8220;dirty&#8221; stuff.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Same with sales letters, too.<\/p>\n<p>Frankly, when &#8220;doing battle&#8221; in your market&#8230; your chances of wiping the floor with your competition are FAR greater testing and honing in on the <em>gross<\/em> moving parts of your ad (like your headline, lead, story, close, offer, etc)&#8230; instead of geeking around with the fine parts (like headline colors, fonts, etc).<\/p>\n<p>The green stuff&#8217;s in the GROSS moving parts.<\/p>\n<p>Not in the fine.<\/p>\n<p>And you know what?<\/p>\n<p>This is <strong>EXACTLY<\/strong> the kind of info I&#8217;m teaching (in depth) in the next several <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.CryptoMarketing.com\" rel=\"noopener\">Crypto Marketing Newsletter<\/a><\/strong> issues.
