{"id":3311,"date":"2010-05-10T08:00:26","date_gmt":"2010-05-10T15:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=3311"},"modified":"2010-05-10T08:00:26","modified_gmt":"2010-05-10T15:00:26","slug":"dumbest-ways-to-lose-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/dumbest-ways-to-lose-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"Dumbest Ways To Lose Sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve made some stoopid sales mistakes in my day.<\/p>\n<p>Some real doozies.<\/p>\n<p>The kind that, when thinking back, make me wince at the sheer <em>idiocy<\/em> of it all (this includes selling online, offline, belly-to-belly, by phone&#8230; the whole ball of wax).<\/p>\n<p>Below are a FEW of those mistakes.<\/p>\n<p>If you find yourself making any of them, fear ye not.<\/p>\n<p>Even though almost everyone does at least 1 or 2 (probably more) of these at some time in their lives, they are quickly and easily fixed.<\/p>\n<p>In some cases, even <em>instantly<\/em> fixed.<\/p>\n<p>Ready?<\/p>\n<p>Okay then, here goes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using pressure (or worse, intimidation)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Waiting too long to take action (this has gotten me WAY too many times, and I shudder to think of all the sales I&#8217;ve flushed down the toilet because of this&#8230;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using &#8220;frothing at the mouth&#8221; claims<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Not respecting the customer&#8217;s intelligence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Selling a <em>weak<\/em> product<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bad customer service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Stealing (or excessively swiping) ads and sales letters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Not collecting mailing list info (I&#8217;m still <em>amazed<\/em> how few retail stores do this everytime someone calls, buys or stops by &#8212; it&#8217;s like stealing from themselves)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bragging without proof<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>And last (but definitely not least)&#8230; Using manipulative &#8220;tricks and tips&#8221;&#8230; instead of proven psychological principles that are in perfect <em>harmony<\/em> with the way people think, buy and actually <strong>LIKE<\/strong> being sold by.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Like the ones packed inside &#8220;Crackerjack Selling Secrets&#8221;:<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.CrackerjackSelling.com\" rel=\"noopener\">www.CrackerjackSelling.com<\/a><\/div>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh mama.<\/p>\n<p>Methinks the goo-roo fanboys using all the head games and so-called &#8220;mind control&#8221; techniques (right&#8230;) have no idea how much that nonsense turns people off.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes it&#8217;s actually kind of <em>amusing<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, that&#8217;s it for today.<\/p>\n<p>More marketing merry-making on the way tomorrow&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve made some stoopid sales mistakes in my day.
