{"id":3328,"date":"2010-05-14T08:00:08","date_gmt":"2010-05-14T15:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=3328"},"modified":"2010-05-14T08:00:08","modified_gmt":"2010-05-14T15:00:08","slug":"best-way-to-thwart-spam-filters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/best-way-to-thwart-spam-filters\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Way To &#8220;Thwart&#8221; Spam Filters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not that this shocks me, but&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, they discovered some schmuck mailman in Philadelphia (I keep picturing Newman from &#8220;Seinfeld&#8221;&#8230;) stuffed 20,000 pieces of mail (going alllll the way back to 1997) in his apartment &#8212; including IRS notices, college acceptance letters, paychecks, Social Security payments&#8230; the whole brick of wax.<\/p>\n<p>Ouch.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s gotta HURT to be one of those recipients.<\/p>\n<p>But you know what?<\/p>\n<p>This tomfoolery happens ALL the time ONLINE, too.<\/p>\n<p>I call &#8217;em &#8220;cyber Newmans.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>ISP&#8217;s, junk mail software, spam arrest services, etc.<\/p>\n<p>And they basically do the same thing: <\/p>\n<p>Steal, intercept and &#8220;hide&#8221; emails (somewhere out there in cyberspace&#8230;) &#8212; including sometimes important ones where people are sending you money and business correspondence where time is of the essence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are lots of ways to thwart these cyber Newman&#8217;s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But none are completely foolproof.<\/p>\n<p>After all, the merry plump cyber thief is always cooking up new tricks.  And just because a word or phrase or punctuation mark is &#8220;safe&#8221; from spam filters and software today&#8230; doesn&#8217;t mean it will be tomorrow.
