In other words, many of the people society holds up as the &#8220;educated&#8221; ones <em>never<\/em> crack open another book after leaving school.<\/p>\n<p>There are many reasons for this.<\/p>\n<p>Laziness is one.<\/p>\n<p>Illiteracy is another (some people go clean through college without ever learning to read).<\/p>\n<p>But a BIG reason is probably neurological.<\/p>\n<p>Ken McCarthy (who studied neuroscience at Princeton) told me while interviewing him for <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.CopywritingGrabBag.com\" rel=\"noopener\">The Copywriting Grab Bag<\/a><\/strong> it&#8217;s very hard for most people to read.  (And that neurologists <em>still<\/em> don&#8217;t even fully know we can even do it!)<\/p>\n<p>Freaky.<\/p>\n<p>But kind of a pity, too.<\/p>\n<p>Especially with all the great books out there.<\/p>\n<p>Take, for example, the 8 books below.<\/p>\n<p>These are sort of &#8220;underrated&#8221; books you probably won&#8217;t see in the usual marketing &#8220;echo chambers&#8221; and forums.<\/p>\n<p>Two of them are almost impossible to find.<\/p>\n<p>Many aren&#8217;t even &#8220;business&#8221; books.<\/p>\n<p>And one is actually a comic book.<\/p>\n<p>But all are extremely valuable to us marketers &#8212; as they contain everything from business and marketing lessons&#8230; to storytelling examples&#8230; to ways to reel in lagging attention spans&#8230; and even instructions on how to sell to multiple different age groups and professions.<\/p>\n<p>And who knows?<\/p>\n<p>You might even have some fun reading them&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<strong>1.  &#8220;The System Club Letters&#8221;<\/strong> -by Ken McCarthy <\/p>\n<p><strong>2.  &#8220;26 Instant Marketing Ideas To Build Your Network Marketing Business&#8221;<\/strong> -by Tom &#8220;Big Al&#8221; Schreiter (written to MLM&#8217;ers, but the info can be applied to ANY business)<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.  &#8220;Ten Greatest Sales Persons&#8221;<\/strong> -by Robert Shook <\/p>\n<p><strong>4.  &#8220;The Dark Knight Returns&#8221;<\/strong> -by Frank Miller (even got a whole chapter dedicated to it in<strong> <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.CopywritingGrabBag.com\" rel=\"noopener\">The Copywriting Grab Bag<\/a><\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.  &#8220;How To Argue And Win Every Time&#8221;<\/strong> -by Gerry Spence <\/p>\n<p><strong>6.  &#8220;The Game&#8221; <\/strong>-by Neil Strauss (perfectly illustrates the dangers of copy-catting goo-roos)<\/p>\n<p><strong>7.  &#8220;Psychological Nudity&#8221;<\/strong> -by Michael Savage <\/p>\n<p><strong>8.  &#8220;Gary Halbert&#8217;s Guide To The Core Secrets And Desires Of Different Groups Of People And How To Exploit Those Secrets And Desires To Make Yourself A Lot Of Money&#8221;<\/strong> -by Gary Halbert<\/ul>\n<p>Diverse list of books, isn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<p>And I simply can&#8217;t recommend them enough.<\/p>\n<p>Go ye forth and profit from &#8217;em.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever hear that freaky quote about reading?
