And you can always learn something from just about anyone who&#8217;s had any kind of success (even if you learn from their <em>mistakes<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>So gurus are cool in my book.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s the <em>goo-roos<\/em> I don&#8217;t trust.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And one way to tell the difference between a legitimate guru and a mere goo-roo is EVERYTHING a goo-roo says is inflated.<\/p>\n<p>Like, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Inflated <em>sales<\/em> numbers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Inflated <em>list<\/em> size<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Inflated <em>lies<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Inflated <em>response<\/em> rates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Inflated <em>claims<\/em> about the number of people on a tele-seminar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>And so on, and so forth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Anyway, bottom line?<\/p>\n<p>If you want a great &#8220;red flag&#8221; if someone is lying to you, just notice how much everything sounds inflated.<\/p>\n<p>Do that, and you&#8217;ll be a-okay.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Contrary to popular belief, I&#8217;m not anti-guru.
