{"id":3698,"date":"2010-08-24T00:00:34","date_gmt":"2010-08-24T07:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=3698"},"modified":"2010-08-24T00:00:34","modified_gmt":"2010-08-24T07:00:34","slug":"email-myths-that-kill-sales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/email-myths-that-kill-sales\/","title":{"rendered":"Email Myths That Kill Sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lately I&#8217;ve been thinking a lot about email.<\/p>\n<p>Mostly, because I&#8217;m getting ready to re-release ye olde <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.StreetSmartEmail.com\" rel=\"noopener\">Street-Smart Email system<\/a><\/strong> and it&#8217;s <em>hot<\/em> on my mind.  But also, because I&#8217;ve been seeing a lot of myths floating around about email, too.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few such myths:<\/p>\n<ul>\n1.  Open rates are most important <\/p>\n<p>2.  You should send people a short teaser email that directs them to your blog  (if I did that, I&#8217;d only have made <em>half<\/em> the sales I&#8217;ve done so far this year &#8212; if that)<\/p>\n<p>3.  Teaching sells<\/p>\n<p>4.  HTML is best<\/p>\n<p>5.  The best time to send emails is 5:00 am eastern time<\/p>\n<p>6.  Social media is going to bury email marketing (this one ALWAYS gives me a hearty laugh!)<\/p>\n<p>7.  Subject lines need to be short<\/p>\n<p>8.
