{"id":3839,"date":"2010-10-08T00:00:22","date_gmt":"2010-10-08T07:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=3839"},"modified":"2010-10-08T00:00:22","modified_gmt":"2010-10-08T07:00:22","slug":"why-direct-mail-kicks-gluteus-bootyus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/why-direct-mail-kicks-gluteus-bootyus\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Direct Mail Kicks Gluteus Bootyus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been yapping away about direct mail a LOT.<\/p>\n<p>Why do I keep going on and on about it?<\/p>\n<p>Two reasons:<\/p>\n<p>The first reason is because next week Doberman Dan and are doing a <strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.DobermanDan.com\/dmcoaching\" rel=\"noopener\">free direct mail training<\/a><\/strong> tele-seminar (actually, he&#8217;s doing the work, I&#8217;m just holding the clipboard).  There <em>will<\/em> be a pitch at the end, but it won&#8217;t be necessary to buy anything to get mucho value out of the experience.<\/p>\n<p>But there&#8217;s also another reason:<\/p>\n<p><strong>I flat out think it&#8217;s cool!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, now that I&#8217;ve done it (and am continuing to do it), it&#8217;s like a whole new world is opening up.  There are so many things you can do with direct mail you can&#8217;t do (not with the same impact, at least) online.<\/p>\n<p>And nowadays it&#8217;s almost as easy as sending an email.<\/p>\n<p>Examples?<\/p>\n<p>OK, how about these apples:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Bounce back offers<\/strong> (i.e. inserting your pitch in the same box or envelope as a product you are already sending someone.  This lets your pitch get a &#8220;free ride&#8221; with a virtual 100% guarantee your prospect will read your ad.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Find JV partners<\/strong> (letters have FAR more impact than email)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Get new clients<\/strong> (did you know Bob Bly, the great copywriting coach, got all his first clients by sending a short letter to a targeted list of potential clients?  Again, it&#8217;s got IMPACT.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Special sales announcements<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Put OTHER business&#8217;s ads in your mail and charge for it<\/strong> (this is where other marketers pay you to let their ad ride along with your products or mailings &#8212; potentially covering your hard costs, making your mailings free.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Generate referrals<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Drive opt-ins to your website<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Profit from JV relationships<\/strong> (same as putting other business&#8217;s ads in your mailings, except, instead of them paying you to send their pitch, you share in the profits from their sales)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Back-end sales<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Customer\/client re-activation<\/strong> (this is such a no-brainer almost ANY business can get an immediate cash flow surge just by doing it)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>And so on, and so forth&#8230;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So those are just a few ideas.<\/p>\n<p>Frankly, the profit-potential is <em>enormous<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Especially if you understand direct marketing.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, to see how one of the few remaining direct mail masters does it, check out the free training Doberman Dan&#8217;s doing next Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Details at:<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.DobermanDan.com\/dmcoaching\" rel=\"noopener\">www.DobermanDan.com\/dmcoaching<\/a><\/div>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been yapping away about direct mail a LOT.
