Recently I got a funny question from a subscriber.<\/p>\n
He has a blog and wants to know how to get more people commenting on his blog and participating in discussions, etc. This is funny because (if you’ve seen my blog in the past 2 years) I don’t even allow comments.<\/p>\n
Anyway, I think he’s asking the wrong question.<\/p>\n
The question I would ask is, are you finding blog comments leading to cash-in-the-bank sales or not?<\/p>\n
If not, then why even worry about it?<\/p>\n
Internet marketers are funny like that, though.<\/p>\n
Few real business owners (and most Internet marketers are not real business owners) ever think like your average, IM’er does.<\/p>\n
They can’t afford to.<\/p>\n
If they did, their businesses would die right quick.<\/p>\n
Can you imagine a grocery store or retail shop owner asking, “hm, wonder how I can get more people to stand around in my store all day, talking?”<\/p>\n
More likely he’s thinking, “how can I increase sales!”<\/p>\n
Because SALES is what pays bills.<\/p>\n
Not online gossiping.<\/p>\n
Not social media brain farts.<\/p>\n
And certainly not blog comments.<\/p>\n
Yes, they COULD lead to sales.<\/p>\n
There are ways to monetize these things, no doubt about it.<\/p>\n
But by themselves, they’re as useless as a $3 bill.<\/p>\n
Just my too many cents.<\/p>\n
