{"id":4293,"date":"2011-04-18T03:00:16","date_gmt":"2011-04-18T10:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=4293"},"modified":"2011-04-18T03:00:16","modified_gmt":"2011-04-18T10:00:16","slug":"marketing-elitists-who-know-were-always-right","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/marketing-elitists-who-know-were-always-right\/","title":{"rendered":"Marketing Elitists Who Know We&#8217;re Always Right"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So I recently took a personality test.<\/p>\n<p>And turns out I share the same personality type as some of the worst and most <em>vile<\/em> people you&#8217;ve ever heard of (both real and fictional).<\/p>\n<p>Like Emperor Palpatine.<\/p>\n<p>Lord Voldemort.<\/p>\n<p>Hannibal Lecter.<\/p>\n<p>And (gasp!) even Hillary Clinton!<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, why should you care?<\/p>\n<p>Because while reading about all these different personality types, it dawned on me how USEFUL this information is to anyone who sells for a living. In some ways I kinda jumped the gun, because a couple months back in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.CryptoMarketing.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Crypto Marketing Newsletter<\/a><\/strong> I did an entire issue about doing market research.<\/p>\n<p>Like how to know <em>exactly<\/em> what they want.<\/p>\n<p>What they&#8217;re <em>thinking<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>And how they want to be <em>sold<\/em> to.<\/p>\n<p>If I could go back in time, I&#8217;d add this personality stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, you could find out what your market&#8217;s occupations are, and then cross reference them with personality types that tend to gravitate towards those occupations.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe not an exact science.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But the insights would be incredibly useful.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Take my personality, for example.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;d know we come off as arrogant and elitist (we&#8217;re not really arrogant and elitist, we just know we&#8217;re ALWAYS right&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>Have little interest in others&#8217; thoughts or feelings. (Not really true, but whatever.)<\/p>\n<p>Want closure with everything.<\/p>\n<p>And spend ALL our time inside our own heads.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s <em>invaluable<\/em> intel when selling to my personality type &#8212; since you could &#8220;custom fit&#8221; your pitch around all these psychological hot buttons and show how your product fits into our world.<\/p>\n<p>Kinda deep research, isn&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<p>And it holds all kinds of possibilities for marketers.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, it&#8217;d be interesting to create a software program where when someone opts in for really valuable free info they&#8217;d have to take one of these kinds of personality tests, first.<\/p>\n<p>Then have an ad tailored to each type.<\/p>\n<p>Just something to chew on.<\/p>\n<p>For more secrets like this, go to:<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.CryptoMarketing.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.CryptoMarketing.com<\/a><\/div>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.S.<\/strong> By the way&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>There are lots good people on the list mentioned above, too &#8212; we&#8217;re not all evil wannabe super villains who want to take over the world or whatever.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, some like to argue the fact.<\/p>\n<p>And in one guy&#8217;s case, no matter how much I tortured him, he <em>still<\/em> didn&#8217;t understand my point&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I recently took a personality test.
