I know this goes against established goo-roo orthodoxy, but I speaketh the truth about this.<\/p>\n<p>Prove it, you say?<\/p>\n<p>OK, take my early misadventures for example.<\/p>\n<p>Back when I was first trying to get copywriting clients, I would come out &#8220;swinging&#8221; with would-be clients on the phone trying to sell my services.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d pour them benefits on THICK.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d trumpet my guarantees.<\/p>\n<p>Make big claims.<\/p>\n<p>And ooooooze benefits all over the place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The result?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d rarely ever get the gig.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Uhm, we&#8217;ll get back to you, thanks&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ouch.<\/p>\n<p>But I don&#8217;t blame them at all.<\/p>\n<p>Pitching those benefits was stoopid.<\/p>\n<p>All they did was create MORE objections.<\/p>\n<p>Then one day, I changed my tune and started asking questions, instead of pitching benefits.
