{"id":4979,"date":"2011-10-24T06:00:42","date_gmt":"2011-10-24T13:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=4979"},"modified":"2011-10-24T06:00:42","modified_gmt":"2011-10-24T13:00:42","slug":"and-so-she-walked-out-of-my-life-forever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/and-so-she-walked-out-of-my-life-forever\/","title":{"rendered":"And So She Walked Out Of My Life Forever"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, I got some amusing hate mail.<\/p>\n<p>The woman who sent it sounded REALLY peeved.<\/p>\n<p>Amongst her inane babblings (such as I&#8217;m a &#8220;huckster&#8221; blah blah blah) she ranted on about how I never send any content.<\/p>\n<p>Am just full of hype.<\/p>\n<p>And never share anything of substance.<\/p>\n<p>(She even nagged my use of slang haha).<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, she sounded plumb grumpy. <\/p>\n<p>So for S&#038;G&#8217;s, today I thought it&#8217;d be fun to put these &#8220;no content\/substance&#8221; claims to the test by pulling out the subject lines of the last 10 emails I wrote (prior to the one that set her off) &#8212; along with the valuable tip(s) contained in each of those emails.<\/p>\n<p>Ready?<\/p>\n<p>OK, here they are&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why I&#8217;m such a fart about endorsing auto-responders<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: How to pick the right auto-responder)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Zombie bureaucrats who want to eat your business<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: Awareness of people who want you to fail)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>3 &#8220;plug &#8216;n play&#8221; email templates for your bad self<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: a link to 3 proven email templates)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Exotic Chinese email secrets<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: create an exotic personae to be more persuasive)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Re: my &#8220;bogus&#8221; double your income with email claim<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: True, this one was a pure pitch, but no serious marketer would begrudge me showing off how an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.EmailPlayers.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Email Players<\/a><\/strong> subscriber <em>doubled<\/em> her income in a few weeks using my methods)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why nobody likes you no more<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: How to sell to skeptics)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Might as well just set fire to your bank account now<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: A kick in the butt to stop procrastinating)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The no-headache guide to selling physical products<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: What printer to use for physical products)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>How to get people physically addicted to your emails<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: Send more emails the right way, and peoples&#8217; brains might literally &#8220;feen&#8221; for more)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why stoopid emails make more sales<\/strong><br \/>\n(The tip: Writing &#8220;escapist&#8221; emails can make you more sales)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hmm.<\/p>\n<p>Smells like <em>content<\/em> to me.<\/p>\n<p>But here&#8217;s what was really amusing:<\/p>\n<p>As one of my friends (we enjoy reading each other&#8217;s &#8220;hate mail&#8221;) pointed out, in the time it took to write her complaint, she could have written an email that sold her product. <\/p>\n<p>Now there&#8217;s a marketing lesson.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, what can I say?<\/p>\n<p>I have that effect on the ladies&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n<p><strong>P.S.<\/strong> She was also bothered by how I am always promoting my &#8220;Email Players&#8221; newsletter.
