Someone probably 95% of online marketers would recognize. And, yes, a guy whose name I won&#8217;t tell you (dontcha hate when I do that, ya little gossiper?)<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;who&#8221; doesn&#8217;t matter anyway.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the &#8220;what&#8221; he said I want to skewer.<\/p>\n<p>And that is:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Email marketing is dead&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Riiiiight.<\/p>\n<p>I guess I didn&#8217;t get that memo.<\/p>\n<p>As my sales (and those of many of my &#8220;Email Players&#8221; subscribers) are higher than ever using good old &#8220;retro&#8221; email.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, people are always pronouncing email dead.<\/p>\n<p>Usually they blame social media.<\/p>\n<p>And spam.<\/p>\n<p>And lower open rates.<\/p>\n<p>Yada, yada yada&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In a way they&#8217;re right, though.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Email IS dead for most people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like people who give away lots of &#8220;content.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Who write emails as if they&#8217;re static sales letters.<\/p>\n<p>(Which is a big mistake, BTW).<\/p>\n<p>And, who simply don&#8217;t know how to sell.<\/p>\n<p>For them?<\/p>\n<p>Yes.<\/p>\n<p>Email is dead as a hammer.<\/p>\n<p>For the few of us who know how to use it?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s alive and kicking.<\/p>\n<p>Who knows?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe one day we&#8217;ll see the death of goo-roo predictions.<\/p>\n<p>Until then, realize this:<\/p>\n<p>Whenever someone (especially a goo-roo selling an alternative to whatever death he&#8217;s pronouncing) says a media, format or platform is &#8220;dead&#8221; (i.e. long form sales letters, email, plain text, etc), you can be sure it&#8217;s alive and breathing.<\/p>\n<p>Although I gotta admit:<\/p>\n<p>I kinda dig my competition believing email is dead.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s less competition for me.<\/p>\n<p>And, less competition for my &#8220;Email Players&#8221; subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>(Not that we have &#8220;competition&#8221;&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>So keep predicting, ye goo-roos.<\/p>\n<p>And we&#8217;ll keep profiting.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribe to &#8220;Email Players&#8221; here:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.EmailPlayers.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>www.EmailPlayers.com<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So I heard another Internet &#8220;death of&#8221; prediction.
