Recently, I watched The Hobbit again.<\/p>\n
The Hobbit is the prelude to the “Lord Of The Rings” movies from 10 years ago showing how Bilbo the hobbit found the One Ring decades before Frodo and Sam take up the quest to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom.<\/p>\n
Anyway, the “purists” hate The Hobbit.<\/p>\n
They say it doesn’t follow the book.<\/p>\n
That it’s completely idiotic.<\/p>\n
And, that it flat out sucks.<\/p>\n
Yet, that “sucky” movie surpassed $1 billion at the global box office — making it the fourth biggest film in Warner Bros.’ history.<\/p>\n
Which brings me to the point:<\/p>\n
Critics are everywhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n And it’s funny how (in many cases) the more they hate on something, the MORE that thing sells.<\/p>\n Whether it be movies.<\/p>\n Or foods.<\/p>\n Or, yes, advertising.<\/p>\n This is why I always ignore “advertising critics.”<\/p>\n Yes, hear them out.<\/p>\n (Even a busted clock is right twice per day…)<\/p>\n But realize:<\/p>\n Most critics are terrible at judging what’s effective.<\/p>\n You’re far better off listening to your market.<\/p>\n What THEY think.<\/p>\n What THEY say.<\/p>\n And, what THEY buy.<\/p>\n One more thing.<\/p>\n Something else “hobbit” related.<\/p>\n Everyone I know in business has that One Thing that rules their lives, driving them to want to be in business for themselves.<\/p>\n Whether it be to quit their job.<\/p>\n Or pay off their debts.<\/p>\n Or just grease the grooves of life, etc.<\/p>\n I speaketh of that One Thing that holds them back.<\/p>\n Keeps them from getting ahead.<\/p>\n And, that needs to be destroyed.<\/p>\n Everyone’s One Thing is different.<\/p>\n And whatever yours is, I can’t carry it for you.<\/p>\n But, I CAN carry you (heh).<\/strong><\/p>\n When you subscribe to the “Email Players” newsletter, I do this by giving you monthly “virtual coaching” via the newsletter.
