The BEST overall business\/marketing book I possess (and have been reading non-stop since January 2008) is Ken McCarthy’s “System Club Letters” book. I dig it so much I even gifted it to my “Email Players” subscribers a few months ago.<\/p>\n
Anyway, my favorite chapter is about Independence Day.<\/p>\n
(That’s today in the US.)<\/p>\n
Ken ‘splains why it’s lost its meaning:<\/p>\n
“Reason #1: Independence is no longer a treasured virtue in our country. Reason #2: Many of the things that the Founding Fathers found so objectionable – like taxation without representation for example – have become institutionalized in the US. Big business, big media, big government – the country seems to be run for their benefit today, not ours.”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
True ‘dat.<\/p>\n
People are completely gullible.<\/p>\n
The two term elections of Bush and Obama prove it.<\/p>\n
(With *another* Bush & Clinton bout coming up again…)<\/p>\n
Another great insight from that chapter:<\/p>\n
Ken notes how when this country was founded 90% of people worked\u00a0(and thought) for themselves.<\/p>\n
Today?<\/p>\n
Only 10% do.<\/p>\n
The rest are slaving away, swallowing everything the media tells\u00a0them, voting their rights away for fear of non-existent boogymen,\u00a0enthusiastically cheering on unelected activist judges making laws\u00a0out of thin air, piling on debt, race baiting, class warfaring,\u00a0never questioning, always obeying — tyranny’s little helpers.<\/p>\n
So what’s Ken’s solution?<\/p>\n
Become economically independent<\/span>.<\/p>\n
And then use your economic independence to take a stand against the\u00a0politicians and unelected bankers, bureaucrats, judges, and foreign\u00a0interests trying to steal yours and your children’s birthrights for\u00a0their 30 pieces of silver.<\/p>\n
Anyway, I highly recommend reading it.<\/p>\n
And then KEEP reading it.<\/p>\n
Perpetually.<\/p>\n
As far as how to become economically independent…<\/p>\n

It’s like an Independence Day fireworks display of value.<\/p>\n
