{"id":7404,"date":"2014-07-14T06:30:28","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T13:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=7404"},"modified":"2014-07-14T06:30:28","modified_gmt":"2014-07-14T13:30:28","slug":"the-drug-lords-guide-to-ethical-business-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/the-drug-lords-guide-to-ethical-business-building\/","title":{"rendered":"The Drug Lord&#8217;s Guide To Ethical Business Building"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p><strong>There are two kinds of men in this world, those who drink and those who pour<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So sayeth a drug lord in an episode of &#8220;Breaking Bad&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Criminal or not, he&#8217;s got a point.<\/p>\n<p>Especially in the online world.<\/p>\n<p>For example&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Those who &#8220;pour&#8221; have these traits:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Zero focus<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Always looking for shortcuts (endlessly obsessed with &#8220;cheat sheets&#8221;, &#8220;swipe files&#8221;, and &#8220;lazy ways&#8221; to do business online)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Are copycats (no originality &#8212; just swipe, steal and copy)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Low tolerance for deep thinking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lazy<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Look at buying products designed to help them build their businesses as expenses instead of long term investments<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Are followers (never leaders &#8212; in either thought or deed)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Fanboys of gurus (and goo-roos)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Desperate to be liked<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Afraid to take chances<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Treat their businesses like hobbies<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Play to not lose instead of play to win<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And the list goes on&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Those are the pourers &#8212; the vast majority of online marketers. They pour for those who drink (figuratively speaking &#8212; for anyone reading this who doesn&#8217;t understand the concept of &#8220;context&#8221;&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#8217;t make them bad people.<\/p>\n<p>Nor does it mean they can&#8217;t change.<\/p>\n<p>(Many who drink started out by pouring).<\/p>\n<p>The drink mentality is what I teach in &#8220;Email Players&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why it doesn&#8217;t teach how to get rich by next Monday&#8230; or how to &#8220;trick&#8221; people into buying (which is not only stupid but it guarantees they never buy again from you)&#8230; or to be needy and desperate but to instead operate from a mentality of abundance.<\/p>\n<p>In other words&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It teaches how to build your sales over time.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, there&#8217;s up front action.
