Anyway, there’s a song I really dig called “The Boss”.<\/p>\n
It’s by James Brown.<\/p>\n
And, it’s peppered with arrogant and cocky language (how can you NOT like James Brown?) about how he “paid the cost to be the boss.” The context (from what I understand) is him telling his ungrateful band, “You ain’t shit without me and you know it — I’m the one who did the work to get us here, and that’s why I’m the boss.”<\/p>\n
To entrepreneurs it can have another meaning:<\/p>\n
A reminder to enjoy being the BOSS.<\/p>\n
You earned it, daddy-0<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Now go enjoy it.<\/p>\n Take trips on a dime whenever you feel like it.<\/p>\n Drink imported beer and fine wines.<\/p>\n Learn a new skill.<\/p>\n Go on crazy adventures in Vegas or some foreign land.<\/p>\n More:<\/p>\n If you don’t enjoy the fruits of your labor you will never live up to your full potential, because you won’t be forcing yourself to expand your desires and, thus, make new goals to satisfy them.<\/p>\n Anyway, if this is you, here’s my advice:<\/p>\n You paid the cost to be the boss.<\/p>\n Now, take some time off.<\/p>\n Spend some friggin’ money.<\/p>\n Live it up.<\/p>\n Your business will still be there when you get back.<\/p>\n And, you’ll attack work with renewed intensity and ferocity.<\/p>\n Plus, there’s a practical reason for this:<\/p>\n You never know when it’ll all be taken from you (it pays to be paranoid…) by your government, or when your freedoms will be further impaired in the name of “security” or “equality” or “the children”.<\/p>\n So do this, my little droogie:<\/p>\n Look in the mirror.<\/p>\n Quote this part of James Brown’s “The Boss” song:<\/p>\n
