{"id":7758,"date":"2014-10-29T06:30:30","date_gmt":"2014-10-29T13:30:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=7758"},"modified":"2014-10-29T06:30:30","modified_gmt":"2014-10-29T13:30:30","slug":"youre-either-on-my-side-or-the-wrong-side","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/youre-either-on-my-side-or-the-wrong-side\/","title":{"rendered":"You&#8217;re Either On My Side, Or The WRONG Side"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recently a bloke asked why I don&#8217;t personalize emails.<\/p>\n<p>In other words&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t start each email with &#8220;Hi Chachi&#8230;&#8221; or pepper people&#8217;s first name throughout my emails to sounds like I&#8217;m writing a personal email to them, giving it that &#8220;human element&#8221; to make them more persuasive.<\/p>\n<p>There are several reasons why.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">(1) I&#8217;m lazy about it<br \/>\n(2) Since not collecting first names, I&#8217;ve gotten more opt ins<br \/>\n(3) I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s as powerful as it used to be<\/p>\n<p>In fact, want a FAR more potent secret than personalization?<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;ll have more impact?<\/p>\n<p>And, can make you more sales?<\/p>\n<p>(If you do it right&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>You do?<\/p>\n<p>OK, what is FAR more powerful than personalization is&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Polarization!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My emails are very polarizing. I often draw a line in the sand and FORCE people to make a decision:<\/p>\n<p>Their either on <strong>MY<\/strong> side.<\/p>\n<p>Or the <strong>WRONG<\/strong> side.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Because the more <em>polarizing<\/em> you are, the more sales you&#8217;ll make.<\/p>\n<p>History is full of examples of this.<\/p>\n<p>The lion&#8217;s share of the dough goes to the people who aren&#8217;t scared to say &#8220;this is what I think, and if you don&#8217;t like it, there&#8217;s the door&#8230;&#8221; and force people to either love &#8217;em or hate &#8217;em.<\/p>\n<p>That way, there&#8217;s no indifference.<\/p>\n<p>No lukewarm flip-flopping.<\/p>\n<p>And, no mistaking what they stand for.<\/p>\n<p>Great emails do the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>So polarize, baby.<\/p>\n<p>Polarize&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>To see exactly how to put emails together that polarize, revolutionize and &#8220;super size&#8221; your sales&#8230; check out the &#8220;Email Players&#8221; newsletter.
