The zombie apocalypse is almost upon us.<\/p>\n
This week I do the 5th draft of my soon-to-be-published novel about flesh eating zombies (Called “Zombie Cop” — about a cop who becomes a zombie).<\/p>\n
And, I’m editing it kind of like how I would edit a sales letter.<\/p>\n
Here’s what I mean:<\/p>\n
I am going to read it out loud on this 5th pass. It will take the entire week and then I will send it to Greg (my editor). Ideally, I would do 10 read-out-loud drafts (just like I do for my sales letters) but there’s no time. Because next week I gotta prep for the Oceans 4 workshop \u00a0in Vegas I’m doing with my boys Andre Chaperon, Ryan Levesque and Jack Born (and if you’re going to the Marketing Sherpa event that week, let me know, it was fun hanging out with people on my list in San Diego in September when we did our last Oceans 4 gig). Then, when I get back, I have a week to implement whatever changes, suggestions, etc, Greg sends me so we can submit it to an amazon.com fiction contest.<\/p>\n
The prize?<\/p>\n
A $150,000 advance and 3 book contract.<\/p>\n
But, I will admit:<\/p>\n
I couldn’t care less about the prize.<\/p>\n
I just wanna WIN, babycakes<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Although, I gotta be realistic:<\/p>\n Even if the judges love it, they probably won’t allow an unrepentantly pop culture (i.e. low culture), simple and, yes, disturbing book like Zombie Cop win. (It’s extremely deranged<\/em> and violent… can’t wait until my mom reads it!)<\/p>\n
