He was a marketing genius.<\/p>\n
And, a true entrepreneur.<\/p>\n
(He started at 9 years old selling salve and newspapers. From there he did everything from import\/export… to real estate… to offshore banking… to gold & coal mining… mail order… merchandising… manufacturing… and, yes, Internet marketing.)<\/p>\n
He was also one of my marketing idols.<\/p>\n
Yes, I was (hellz… still AM) a Jim Straw fanboy.<\/p>\n
Why?<\/p>\n
Because he was the ultimate anti-professional.<\/p>\n
At least, as far as I could tell.<\/p>\n
(Didn’t know him personally, just via observation.)<\/p>\n
He was also a true marketing “rebel.”<\/strong><\/p>\n For example:<\/p>\n He didn’t offer a refund policy.<\/p>\n Sold a $997 eBook (yes, an eBook for almost $1k).<\/p>\n Mailed DAILY.<\/p>\n (And mostly just short, blatant pitches, too — he was one of the scant few people I’ve ever seen who could get away with it.)<\/p>\n He also kept his website bare bones.<\/p>\n (We’re talking 1994 level web design.)<\/p>\n And, he simply didn’t waste time on things that didn’t matter.<\/p>\n Yeah, he could have hired a bunch of employees to babysit. He could have probably squeezed out more sales by offering a refund policy and spending hours each week screwing with do-nothing customers in the biz-opp and IM niches who decide to refund before they bought the product. He could have wasted his “twilight years” hunched over a computer testing every jot and tittle (i.e. “whispers” instead of “screams”) of a website trying to geek out an extra .000005% conversion instead of enjoying that time with his family. And, yes, he could have gone through web designer outsource hell and spruced his sites up (speaking of which… whazzup with website designers? They are by far the flakiest group of people on the planet — not just my opinion, but every. single. person. who hires them I’ve talked to).<\/p>\n Anyway, where was I?<\/p>\n Oh, yes, Jim Straw’s simple bid’niz.<\/p>\n From what I can tell, he did none<\/em> of the above things.<\/strong><\/p>\n And you know what?<\/p>\n The dude was rich anyway.<\/p>\n Made lots of money.<\/p>\n And, he is one of the main reasons why I am far more interested in doing business in a way that gives me more time and energy and opportunity for fun, relaxation, travel, etc (whatevs I wanna do)… instead of being a slave to all the little minutia so many other online marketers are.<\/p>\n Screw ‘dat side ways.<\/p>\n Anyway, just something to wrap your burgle around.<\/p>\n I’ll leave you with this one last Jim Strawism:<\/p>\n “Do whatever’s necessary (legally) to get to where you want to be, even if you don’t like doing it (*especially* if you don’t like doing it).”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Pure kickasseyness.<\/p>\n Reminds me of how a lot of people know they should mail daily.<\/p>\n They want to.<\/p>\n Yet, they won’t.<\/p>\n (I won’t say “can’t”, they can, they simply won’t.)<\/p>\n Which brings us to the March “Email Players” issue.<\/p>\n It contains the 10 “commandments” to becoming not just a bonified… but a BENEFIED… master of email writing in just 30 days.<\/p>\n These steps are hard.<\/p>\n (I know cuz I did them all myself.)<\/p>\n They are not for the timid.<\/p>\n And, are kinda like the “Insanity workout” of email.<\/p>\n But you know what?<\/p>\n If you do the steps for 30 days… apply the information… and make my system a part of your day-to-day (like showering and brushing your teeth)… you almost can’t lose.<\/p>\n (Assuming you have a list and proven offer.)<\/p>\n Alright enough!<\/p>\n If you think you got what it takes, go here:<\/p>\n
