{"id":8541,"date":"2014-05-14T06:30:21","date_gmt":"2014-05-14T13:30:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=8541"},"modified":"2014-05-14T06:30:21","modified_gmt":"2014-05-14T13:30:21","slug":"the-sissies-will-demand-sensitivity-training-for-this","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/the-sissies-will-demand-sensitivity-training-for-this\/","title":{"rendered":"The Sissies Will Demand Sensitivity Training For This"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the risk of being shipped off to &#8220;sensitivity training&#8221;&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>A couple months ago I got a sweet lil&#8217; politically incorrect testimonial from a guy on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>What did he say?<\/p>\n<p>He said I am:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>a refreshing voice in a field that is usually populated almost entirely with faggots<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>OMG.<\/p>\n<p><em>Horrible<\/em>, ain&#8217;t it?<\/p>\n<p>But, is he right?<\/p>\n<p>Well, in my humble (but accurate) opinion, email marketers should be iconoclastic. Challenge conventional thinking and popular opinion about whatever it is they write about. And, yes, be thought leaders who <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">embrace<\/span> controversy.<\/p>\n<p>What do we get instead from a lot of marketers?<\/p>\n<p>Emails that start with apologies for &#8220;bothering&#8221; their list.<\/p>\n<p>Politically correct drivel that bores people to tears.<\/p>\n<p>And, writers that curl up into a fetal position the second someone threatens to unsubscribe or not buy because of something they write about.<\/p>\n<p>Screw that sideways.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not marketing.<\/p>\n<p>Or persuasion.<\/p>\n<p>Or, even living.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I like the adage (forget who said it) about how, if you ain&#8217;t making someone mad every day, you ain&#8217;t doing your job.<\/p>\n<p>And, I will add, not having much impact.<\/p>\n<p>Which brings me to our next order of bid&#8217;niz:<\/p>\n<p>The June &#8220;Email Players&#8221; issue.<\/p>\n<p>It shows you a special kind of email (with 3 examples) that:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. Gets non-buyers shaking with anger<br \/>\n2. Turns on buyers on your list<br \/>\n3.
