What do I speaketh of?<\/p>\n
Paying yourself first.<\/strong><\/p>\n But wait!<\/p>\n I’m not talking about this from a financial point of view (although\u00a0I believe that’s also mucho important).<\/p>\n Here’s what I mean:<\/p>\n When I was doing client work I ALWAYS did my stuff first.<\/p>\n In other words, no matter how much work clients threw at me (and\u00a0when I was on retainer this was crucial) the first hour of every\u00a0day was MINE to work on my own projects.<\/p>\n No, clients did not always like this.<\/p>\n But tough titty for them.<\/p>\n Hour #1 belonged to me.<\/p>\n Did it make a difference?<\/p>\n Hellz yeah!<\/p>\n And yet, it’s the OPPOSITE of what most freelancers do. Usually\u00a0people pour all their energy and time into their client’s stuff\u00a0first, and then hope they have the energy to do their own stuff\u00a0later (when they’re tired, burned out, etc).<\/p>\n Big mistake.<\/p>\n Big, big, BIG mistake.<\/strong><\/p>\n I always gave my stuff #1 priority.<\/p>\n Client stuff came second.<\/p>\n I’m not saying to shirk doing a good job.<\/p>\n I’m just saying to pay yourself first.<\/p>\n Hey, this tip may not be “sexy.”<\/p>\n But it’s got TEETH.<\/p>\n Big SHARP teeth.<\/p>\n And the payoff is enormous.<\/p>\n And guess what?<\/p>\n In tomorrow’s Ben Settle Show we discuss this and 6 other equally\u00a0important “rules” for growing your business and being successful.<\/p>\n And while you’re eagerly awaiting it?<\/p>\n Get caught up on past episodes here:<\/p>\n
