{"id":8825,"date":"2014-08-05T06:30:23","date_gmt":"2014-08-05T13:30:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=8825"},"modified":"2014-08-05T06:30:23","modified_gmt":"2014-08-05T13:30:23","slug":"the-100k-brain-fart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/the-100k-brain-fart\/","title":{"rendered":"The $100k Brain Fart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once upon a time I received a really cool gift from Gary Bencivenga\u00a0(universally considered the world&#8217;s greatest living copywriter).<\/p>\n<p>It was a 32-page book called:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>&#8220;Obvious Adams&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a short story about an advertising man who was not the best or\u00a0most skilled copywriter&#8230; but whose ads were ultra successful\u00a0simply because he knew how to spot the &#8220;obvious&#8221; solutions to\u00a0problems.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s an absolutely fascinating read, too.<\/p>\n<p>And, it teaches a special kind of &#8220;mindset.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>(Not found in other marketing books.)<\/p>\n<p>More:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Even though it&#8217;s 98-years old, it&#8217;s even MORE relevant today<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Case in point:<\/p>\n<p>At our last &#8220;Oceans 4&#8221; mastermind workshop we were talking about\u00a0how to increase conversions to OTO&#8217;s (one time offers). And, I\u00a0kinda just brain farted out an idea to the room.<\/p>\n<p>It was an idea I had long thought about.<\/p>\n<p>And, had always wondered if anyone tested.<\/p>\n<p>(I had never tested it myself because I don&#8217;t have a large product\u00a0line &#8212; which it requires to test.)<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, what was this idea?<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t say.<\/p>\n<p>Everything taught at Oceans 4 is <em>confidential<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Everything stays in the room.<\/p>\n<p>And, we don&#8217;t allow recordings.<\/p>\n<p>But, I can say this:<\/p>\n<p>Daegan Smith (arguably the world&#8217;s top list building guy &#8212; who\u00a0attended as our special trainer last time) said this &#8220;obvious&#8221; idea\u00a0that, to our collective knowledge, nobody had ever tested, would\u00a0add at least $100k over the course of this year (he even gave me a\u00a0nice testimonial saying so).<\/p>\n<p>I know, I know&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>I&#8217;m being an ad-hole here not saying, ain&#8217;t I?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I can feeeeel the anger in you, young Skywalker.<\/p>\n<p>But don&#8217;t let it bother you.<\/p>\n<p>Because the &#8220;magic&#8221; was not in the idea.<\/p>\n<p>It was in the OBVIOUSNESS of it.<\/p>\n<p>There was zero genius behind the idea.<\/p>\n<p>(As much as I&#8217;d like to say so&#8230;.)<\/p>\n<p>Yet, at least 2 other people in the room (including one of the\u00a0single most successful marketers in the muscle building niche) are\u00a0enthusiastically testing it.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the point?<\/p>\n<p>Everyone seems to teach complicated.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone seems to value complicated.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone seems so easily seduced by complicated.<\/p>\n<p>But the best, most profitable and life-changing marketing ideas are\u00a0rarely complicated at all &#8212; usually, they are simple,\u00a0easy-to-implement, and ignored by the majority.<\/p>\n<p>More:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">That one obvious idea was just ONE of dozens that weekend<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And, it probably wasn&#8217;t even close to the most profitable idea &#8212;\u00a0especially compared to the testing data, ideas and real-world\u00a0tactics flying around the room from the other Oceans 4 guys, the\u00a0attendees and our other guests&#8230; which included companies like<strong> the\u00a0#1 company on Clickbank<\/strong>&#8230; <strong>Agora Financial (9-figure per year\u00a0newsletter empire)<\/strong>&#8230; <strong>a media buyer who buys $10+ million per year\u00a0in media<\/strong>&#8230; <strong>the world&#8217;s top sales funnel consultant<\/strong>&#8230; <strong>the\u00a0affiliate manager for one of the top Internet marketing teachers on\u00a0the planet<\/strong>&#8230; and the list goes on.<\/p>\n<p>These masterminds are just ridiculously valuable.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody can fathom why we only charge $5k.<\/p>\n<p>But, that&#8217;s what it is this time.<\/p>\n<p>And, *obviously*, spots are going fast.<\/p>\n<p>(We only allow 8 max in the room).<\/p>\n<p>If you want more info simply reply to this email.<\/p>\n<p>Let me know what kind of business you have (some businesses we\u00a0can&#8217;t allow in &#8212; such as businesses that compete with attendees\u00a0already signed up to go) and any questions you have.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll get you the info you need.<\/p>\n<p>And, who knows?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I&#8217;ll see ya in Austin in October.<\/p>\n<p>But you best hurry.<\/p>\n<p>Giddy-up.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Once upon a time I received a really cool gift from Gary Bencivenga\u00a0(universally considered the world&#8217;s greatest living copywriter).
