{"id":8895,"date":"2014-08-20T06:30:44","date_gmt":"2014-08-20T13:30:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=8895"},"modified":"2014-08-20T06:30:44","modified_gmt":"2014-08-20T13:30:44","slug":"will-you-share-bear-your-password-with-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/will-you-share-bear-your-password-with-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Will You Share Bear Your Password With Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just when I thought I&#8217;d heard it all&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>So there&#8217;s this chick I heard of recently that precisely\u00a0illustrates the kind of person you should actively try to repulse\u00a0away from being on any of your lists.<\/p>\n<p>Let me splaineth:<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, one night on flakebook she posted:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Will someone share bear their netflix password with me \u00a0so I can watch it tonight?<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sweet mother of Saint Karl Marx, what&#8217;s the world coming to.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s like $8 per month.<\/p>\n<p>But, she is so cheap&#8230; and so low class jackass&#8230; she asked and\u00a0probably got a password from some schlub thinking it&#8217;d get him laid\u00a0by heroically coming to her aid with his password.<\/p>\n<p>Dumb.<\/p>\n<p>But, useful, in a way.<\/p>\n<p>How?<\/p>\n<p>Because mooches gonna mooch.<\/p>\n<p>And lots of schlubish marketers think if they freely give away all\u00a0their best ideas and experiences to potential clients&#8230; or keep\u00a0moving the free line until there&#8217;s no reason to buy anything from\u00a0them&#8230; or give discounts &amp; make &#8220;exceptions&#8221; every time they hear\u00a0a sob story&#8230; they&#8217;ll make the sale.<\/p>\n<p>Nuh-uh.<\/p>\n<p>Frankly, it&#8217;s almost always the exact opposite:<\/p>\n<p>Someone meets with a would-be client.<\/p>\n<p>Would-be client asks for free information, ideas, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Sucker copywriter (or whatever service provider it is) &#8220;share\u00a0bears&#8221; all his best ideas only to watch Mr. would-be client hire\u00a0someone else.<\/p>\n<p>Happens ALL the time.<\/p>\n<p>(Hellz&#8230; it happened to me back in my newbie days, too.)<\/p>\n<p>The point?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s hard to get rich by share-bearing.<\/p>\n<p>Instead you gotta sell, babycakes.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve said it before, I&#8217;ll say it again:<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">It&#8217;s your moral &amp; ethical duty to sell your stuff<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not prance around facebook trying to &#8220;sell without selling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Not give it away free.<\/p>\n<p>And, certainly not share bear it.<\/p>\n<p>Making people buy not only puts food on the table for your\u00a0family&#8230; but it makes your customers more likely to take action\u00a0and implement your solution, and improve their lives.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the way I look at it, at least.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re the same, then check this out:<\/p>\n<p>My &#8220;Email Players&#8221; newsletter shows you how to write emails people\u00a0love to read and buy from.<\/p>\n<p>In other words&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>People look forward to your pitches.<\/p>\n<p>They look forward to buying.<\/p>\n<p>And, they look forward to using your product.<\/p>\n<p>Subscription info here:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.EmailPlayers.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>www.EmailPlayers.com<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just when I thought I&#8217;d heard it all&#8230; So there&#8217;s this chick I heard of recently that precisely\u00a0illustrates the kind of person you should actively try to repulse\u00a0away from being on any of your lists.
