So I got a confession to make.<\/p>\n
Not long ago I was reminded how annoying it can be to hang out with\u00a0me when my socks are off, especially if I’m on the phone with\u00a0someone in a business capacity or reading something about\u00a0marketing, or passively learning (via audio, video, etc) something.<\/p>\n
How am I annoying?<\/p>\n
Because I pick my toe nails when in deep thought.<\/p>\n
Yes, my little droogling… I will sit there for hours slowly and\u00a0carefully using my finger nails to “trim” my toe nails.<\/p>\n
That means a constant “clipping” sound.<\/p>\n

As my greedy fingers pick away at my toe nails, trying to create\u00a0that ever-elusive perfect clipping that doesn’t turn into a hang\u00a0nail or (even worse) dig too deep whereas I gotta get a real pair\u00a0of clippers to fix it.<\/p>\n
Anyway, why should you possibly care about this?<\/p>\n
Because, believe it or not…<\/p>\n
I get some of my BEST ideas picking my toe nails.<\/strong><\/p>\n In fact, last time I was lectured about how annoying it is to\u00a0others (hey, there’s the door…), I thought about how I’ve been\u00a0doing this for years.<\/p>\n Researching for an ad?<\/p>\n I pick.<\/p>\n Thinking up ideas for an email?<\/p>\n I pick.<\/p>\n In deep thought solving a marketing problem?<\/p>\n I pick.<\/p>\n The result?<\/p>\n I don’t know if there’s something subconscious going on (as I\u00a0mindlessly pick my subconscious mind is “slipping” me ideas) or\u00a0what.<\/p>\n But I do know I get a TON of good ideas this way.<\/p>\n And profitable ones to boot.<\/p>\n I can even remember a specific one.<\/p>\n I was doing some market research for ad for a client several years\u00a0ago and was picking away at my toes with reckless abandon. Ideas came at me left and right. So many… so fast… I couldn’t even keep up with them!<\/p>\n The result?<\/p>\n That ad has earned multi-millions in sales.<\/p>\n (And still has not been beaten in 7 years.)<\/p>\n Was it cuz I pick my toe nails?<\/p>\n Maybe.<\/p>\n Probably.<\/p>\n Hellz… I’ll just say yes.<\/p>\n And you know what?<\/p>\n There’s a powerful marketing lesson here.<\/p>\n Did you catch it?<\/p>\n (And no, not saying to pick your toes.)<\/p>\n Read the between the lines and you’ll see it.<\/p>\n In the meantime, check out:<\/p>\n
