Over the last several weeks I’ve done an off-and-on “Ben Settle\u00a0Show” series about my so-called “Email Players rules.”<\/p>\n
These are basically maxims I do business by.<\/p>\n
Some I’ve learned by observation.<\/p>\n
Some I’ve learned from studying smart people.<\/p>\n
And a few are from my brain.<\/p>\n
We’ve done 2 such episodes (with 7 rules each, 14 total), and those\u00a0first 14 Email Players rules are as follows:<\/p>\n
1. Email is talk radio<\/strong><\/p>\n 2. Be your own best client<\/p>\n 3. First hour of the day belongs to you<\/strong><\/p>\n 4. Don’t put your customers on a pedestal<\/p>\n 5. The customer is always wrong<\/strong><\/p>\n 6. Don’t let facebook steal your balls<\/p>\n 7. Put your own oxygen mask on first<\/strong><\/p>\n 8. Write drunk, edit sober<\/p>\n 9. Don’t let your customers steer your ship or you\u2019re gonna end up\u00a0on the rocks<\/strong><\/p>\n 10. Be a leader not an expert<\/p>\n 11. Don’t reward bad behavior<\/strong><\/p>\n 12. If you want to know what someone really wants, observe what\u00a0they buy<\/p>\n 13. It’s better to be respected than liked<\/strong><\/p>\n 14.
