Last week I re-watched one of my favorite movies:<\/p>\n
“Miracle”<\/strong><\/p>\n It’s based on a true story about the US hockey team that won the\u00a0gold medal in the 1980 Winter Olympics. The US was basically\u00a0written off as a joke and the Soviets were favored to destroy them\u00a0on the ice — especially since the average age of the US team was\u00a021-years old, and some of the Soviet players had been playing for\u00a0over 15 years.<\/p>\n Thus, the US’s win was dubbed a “miracle on ice.”<\/p>\n (Hence the title.)<\/p>\n Anyway, here’s why I bring it up:<\/p>\n One of the best parts of the movie is when bad ass coach Herb\u00a0Brooks (played by Kurt Russell, who delivers the line brilliantly)\u00a0says:<\/p>\n “This cannot be a team of common men \u00a0because common men go nowhere. You have to be uncommon.”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Very true, Mr. Brooks.<\/p>\n And guess ye what?<\/p>\n This is GOOD news for you and me<\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Why?<\/p>\n Because it sadly doesn’t take much to be uncommon.<\/p>\n These days just showing up makes you uncommon.<\/p>\n Even 1-2 hours per day of solid work (not being “busy”, but work)\u00a0is all and you’ll do what will look to others like you’re moving\u00a0mountains. Most people are lazy, unmotivated, and far more eager to\u00a0find new ways to get a constant facebook, twitter, or\u00a0texting-induced dopamine drip all day than accomplish something.<\/p>\n Don’t believe me?<\/p>\n All right, tough guy.<\/p>\n Then I’m going to prove it.<\/p>\n For the rest of the month do this:<\/p>\n 1. Spend the first HALF hour (just 30 minutes — not even an hour)\u00a0of each day writing an email designed to sell something your market\u00a0wants.<\/p>\n 2. Send that email to your list.<\/p>\n 3.
