And I&#8217;ll never forget the one critique where the email said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;You need this product.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Our response?<\/p>\n<p>No we don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Quite frankly, unless you sell something that will save someone&#8217;s\u00a0life or something like that, they don&#8217;t need your product.<\/p>\n<p>And saying it is pure neediness.<\/p>\n<p>Call it &#8220;projection&#8221;, if you want.<\/p>\n<p>The customer doesn&#8217;t need your product.<\/p>\n<p>But, the signal you are giving off is you need their sale.<\/p>\n<p>Nah boo.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Listen up, listen good, and never forget<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If there&#8217;s one thing that will destroy your sales, kill your\u00a0reputation, repulse people (customers, clients, potential JV\u00a0partners, even service providers you want to hire) away from you,\u00a0and reduce your personal &#8220;brand&#8221; to less than zero it&#8217;s being needy.<\/p>\n<p>Now, there are lots of neediness &#8220;tells.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Way too many to cover in this email.<\/p>\n<p>(And yes, almost everyone I see pitching stuff in emails and\u00a0especially on flakebook are riddled with these tells.)<\/p>\n<p>But, one big one is telling people they need you.<\/p>\n<p>If you say that in your emails stop.<\/p>\n<p>Just&#8230; stop.<\/p>\n<p>Starting yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>It comes off as desperate.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a bit insulting.<\/p>\n<p>And, yes, it&#8217;s needy.<\/p>\n<p>My &#8220;Email Players&#8221; newsletter teaches you how to write 100%\u00a0non-needy emails that people love to read and buy from.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s the opposite of needy.<\/p>\n<p>And, the opposite of what most people do.<\/p>\n<p>Subscription info here:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.EmailPlayers.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>www.EmailPlayers.com<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Let me tell you a story.
