(How bored must someone be to start\u00a0an entire thread just about leaving my list?)<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;tl;dr&#8221; version is:<\/p>\n<p>He admittedly learned a lot from me.<\/p>\n<p>But, (and I quote) my:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;unpredictability has become well too predictable&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>His reasoning was that I&#8217;m controversial too often, and that\u00a0controversy has become old. (And, thus, too predictable.)<\/p>\n<p>Is he right?<\/p>\n<p>Is this true?<\/p>\n<p>Am I too predictably unpredictable and controversial?<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s find out&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>His post was on September 17th.<\/p>\n<p>My last 10 email subject lines at that time were:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1. How brand spanking newbies can build a fat list of of buyers&#8230;\u00a0for free<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. How to build a big ol&#8217; fatty list from scratch<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>3. The 21 horsemen of the Email Players apocalypse<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">4. 14 rules for staying sane in an insane bid&#8217;niz world<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>5. Why testimonials suck as proof<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">6. You understand copywriting, persuasion, headlines, but you don&#8217;t\u00a0understand my plight<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>7. The &#8220;marks&#8221; of a low class jackass marketer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">8. Sending customers snakes as gifts<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>9. The paranoid shut-in&#8217;s guide to protecting your income<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">10. The odd fellows<\/p>\n<p>Okay, #&#8217;s 5 &amp; 7 could be controversial.<\/p>\n<p>(#5 going against common direct response marketing guru orthodoxy\u00a0and #7 talking about low class jackass marketers.)<\/p>\n<p>But the rest?<\/p>\n<p>Well, let&#8217;s see&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>One was about how to build a list for free&#8230; 2 was about the same\u00a0thing (I was promoting a course on how to build an audience)&#8230; 3\u00a0was bullets for a podcast episode&#8230; 4 is *arguably* controversial\u00a0(but not really) about the first 14 &#8220;Email Players&#8221; rules I do\u00a0business and live life by&#8230; 6 was about an important marketing\u00a0lesson contained within the movie &#8220;Sideways&#8221;&#8230; 8 was about the\u00a0dangers of sending people unsolicited gifts&#8230; 9 is about how to\u00a0inoculate your business against sudden income drops&#8230; aaaaaaand 10\u00a0is a few sentences promoting that week&#8217;s (non controversial)\u00a0podcast about why entrepreneurs are &#8220;odd&#8221; (in a good way).<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I&#8217;m sure he&#8217;s a good bloke.<\/p>\n<p>But, methinks he&#8217;s confused.<\/p>\n<p>Unless he really considers 20% of my emails being controversial as\u00a0being too predictably unpredictable.<\/p>\n<p>Gotta love warrior forum.<\/p>\n<p>Never a dull moment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Email Players&#8221; newsletter info here:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.EmailPlayers.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>www.EmailPlayers.com<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ben Settle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Curious&#8230; A friend just showed me a Warrior Forum thread where someone drama\u00a0queened about leaving my list.
