A while back I wrote about how I structure my monster novels very\u00a0specifically so there are 14 chapters, with 7 “parts” per chapter.<\/p>\n
There are some psychological reasons for this.<\/p>\n
But, those aren’t what I want to rap about.<\/p>\n
Instead, I want to address this comment I got on it:<\/p>\n
“Three and seven are quite significant in the Biblical world\u00a0and Word–there are many other examples throughout the Bible. \u00a0\u00a0Of\u00a0course that’s why they’re important numbers to humans, if we just\u00a0know the Word. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Julie Wolford, minister and founder of Cross Into\u00a0Victory ministry. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I won’t be reading your books or watching any\u00a0videos as the Bible commands us to remove ourselves from demonic\u00a0spirits, and that’s what Satan and his demonic spirits imitate in\u00a0such beings as you bring to readers and viewers. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Try the Other\u00a0side and come into the light of God’s love, not Satan’s\u00a0destruction, stealing, and killing. \u00a0\u00a0Glory to God, not the devil.”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
While we’re holy rolling here, 3 things:<\/p>\n
1. As my editor\/publisher said about the minister chick the\u00a0reader quoted above:<\/strong><\/p>\n
“You could always reply to HER that God also commands women not to be ministers to men.”<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Heh.<\/p>\n
2. None of my novels are “Christian” books.<\/strong><\/p>\n
Nor do they pretend to be.<\/p>\n
They don’t preach.<\/p>\n
They don’t proselytize.<\/p>\n
And, they don’t dabble in Christian apologetics.<\/p>\n
Yet, I would not be surprised if there were more Bible teachings in\u00a0these novels (especially the newest one “Vampire\u00a0Apocalypse”) than a lot of the books in the “Christian” sections of\u00a0bookstores.<\/p>\n
(Certainly more than in a Joel Osteen sermon…)<\/p>\n
I can’t say fo’ sho’.<\/p>\n
But, it wouldn’t surprise me.<\/p>\n
3. If you’re a mush cookie, or uncomfortable with monster\u00a0stories, or think such books are the devil then don’t read my\u00a0novels.<\/strong><\/p>\n
They are violent.<\/p>\n
And brutal.<\/p>\n
And, yes, deranged.<\/p>\n
Instead, I suggest reading “safer” books — like an Oprah\u00a0book-of-the-month pick. Or watch the Mickey Mouse club. And\u00a0whatever you do, don’t even THINK about reading that Bible\u00a0gathering dust on your coffee table, either.<\/p>\n
There is, after all (Gasp!) violence in it.<\/p>\n
More:<\/p>\n
I think about 1st century Christians vs Western Christians today.\u00a0Back then, Christians were fed to lions. Had the skin flayed off\u00a0their bodies exposing their raw organs from being scourged. And,\u00a0were hung on stakes like meat while left to die.<\/p>\n
Today?<\/p>\n
It’s the mush cookie apocalypse.<\/p>\n
Ah well.<\/p>\n
Strange days indeed…<\/p>\n
