{"id":9560,"date":"2015-02-16T06:30:57","date_gmt":"2015-02-16T14:30:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/?p=9560"},"modified":"2015-02-16T06:30:57","modified_gmt":"2015-02-16T14:30:57","slug":"stuck-in-the-pathetic-free-line-zone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bensettle.com\/blog\/stuck-in-the-pathetic-free-line-zone\/","title":{"rendered":"Stuck In The Free-Line Zone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Okay, so here&#8217;s the scoop:<\/p>\n<p>If you sell or buy anything in the dating niche&#8230; or even have\u00a0half an ear dialed into the popular culture these days&#8230; sooner or\u00a0later you will hear a term called:<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;The Friend Zone&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What that means is this:<\/p>\n<p>A guy likes a girl.<\/p>\n<p>Girl decides said guy is not worthy of her affections for whatever\u00a0reason, so she places him in the friend zone: She&#8217;s happy to be\u00a0&#8220;friends&#8221; with him, but she finds him as sexually attractive as a\u00a0garden slug.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, she&#8217;ll let him give her his attention.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;ll let him do stuff for her.<\/p>\n<p>She&#8217;ll let him pick her (or her friends) up from the airport, let\u00a0him help her move, let him listen to her cry on his shoulder about\u00a0yet another doo-bag that broke her heart, let him listen to all her\u00a0drama, and the list goes on.<\/p>\n<p>But, she won&#8217;t date him.<\/p>\n<p>Won&#8217;t kiss him.<\/p>\n<p>Won&#8217;t even hold his sweaty little hand.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the friend zone.<\/p>\n<p>And, unless a dude understands what&#8217;s going on (most never do),\u00a0once you get in there you have a better chance of escaping Alcatraz\u00a0than the friend zone.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, we have a bit of this online, too.<\/p>\n<p>Except it&#8217;s not called the friend zone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s called the free line zone.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;free line&#8221; is the idea where you give lots and lots and lots\u00a0of free stuff away (often during a launch) so that people think,\u00a0&#8220;zowie! if this is what he&#8217;s giving away free, just imagine what&#8217;s\u00a0in the PAID product!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This creates *some* customers, true.<\/p>\n<p>But mostly, it creates entitled freebie seekers.<\/p>\n<p>(And refunders, but that&#8217;s another email&#8230;)<\/p>\n<p>People who place you square in the free line zone.<\/p>\n<p>(i.e. they will gladly partake of all your free stuff, but have no\u00a0intention of buying from you, and why should they if you are\u00a0foolish enough to give away all your best stuff free?)<\/p>\n<p>More:<\/p>\n<p>Some people think there&#8217;s some so-called &#8220;law of reciprocity&#8221;\u00a0action going on there, too. Where, because they gave the little\u00a0freebie seekers on their list something free, they will somehow\u00a0magically transform into responsible, paying customers who actually\u00a0want to do something about their problems, pains, desires (whatever\u00a0it is your product grants), instead of continuously wandering the\u00a0goo-roo casino raking in all the FREE!!! stuff they can find.<\/p>\n<p>I won&#8217;t say this free line stuff never works.<\/p>\n<p>Or, that you won&#8217;t make sales with it.<\/p>\n<p>But, compared to selling?<\/p>\n<p>&#8217;tain&#8217;t even close.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Being a give-away artist is not selling.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And, while certain gurus with huge lists and rabid fans who treat\u00a0them like the proverbial rockstar (and would buy their grocery list\u00a0&#8212; no sales pitch needed &#8212; if offered) can get away with being\u00a0give-away artists, most blokes I know simply can&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why I get so many testimonials that talk about this.<\/p>\n<p>People used to give away hard content in their emails.<\/p>\n<p>They got poor, maybe even decent, results.<\/p>\n<p>Then they use my system and sales explode.\u00a0Clicks explode.\u00a0And, yes, the number of people eagerly opening your emails explode.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s what happens when you write emails people enjoy reading.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy responding to.<\/p>\n<p>And, yes, enjoy *buying* from.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s what I teach each month in the &#8220;Email Players&#8221; newsletter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And, I can teach you, too.<\/p>\n<p>But, only if you&#8217;re an investor-minded person. (Not an\u00a0opportunity-minded person like 99% of people online.)
